Could anyone tell me what genre have I just produced?

Hi folks,

I just produced a new tune, the problem is I don’t even know what genre it is in. I have been experimenting with dnb for a long time, even some hip hop beats, and now I tried to produce something “straight”, I really like the tune but I don’t really know how to call it :)))

The track is like 97% finished to me, I need to work a little bit on the drop and some minor stuff and I will appreciate any possible constructive feedback you can give. I was thinking even about releasing it somewhere (if you don’t tell me it’s complete bullshit), but I am quite new to house/techno/trance scene at all so I don’t know where should I send it

Here’s the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByuoqE_1Qi_1SkFNdjZ5T1VHRFE/view?usp=sharing

you know DSF stands for “Dub Step Forum”?

I can’t listen tho cos it don’t play in my browser…most people put their stuff on soundcloud…just make up your own genre - everyone else seems to these times

Oh, sorry then. I saw here some topics even for straight beats, so I thought it’s not just dubstep. But I guess there is majority of dubstep producers so it’s not the best place for the feedback I am looking for.

Anyway, at least I reuploaded the track to soundcloud (I hope the private link will work): https://soundcloud.com/2nine/volaky-cosijak/s-73gvz

What’s the tempo there? 125-130?

Yeah, exactly 130

I hear you. I’m not one of those guys who can hear something, and rattle off the exact sub-genre and all of that. In my relatively short time doing this, I have only really worked on dubstep (140+/-BPM), drumstep and D&B (mid-170s BPM), and a little bit of 110BPM, and like one or two average “hip-hop tempo” tracks (around 90-92BPM I think)-- so when I hear a tempo in that range that you’re in, with the four-on-the-floor kick drums, my mind immediately goes to house (or any of it’s variations), although admittedly, I don’t know if I could differentiate certain types of trance from certain types of house (mainly because idk what “trance” REALLY, typically sounds like, haha).

Therefore, in my completely uneducated opinion, which will be wrong since I’m saying it… I’ll go with saying it sounds like a variation of house (a house sub-genre). Whatever it is though, it’s sounding good bud.

I mean seriously.

that’s your fucking problem? like really? your problem is that you can’t come up with more innovative ways to get people listening to your shitty tune.

Would you care to explain a bit more, pretty please? ^^

Wow, that was deep, thank you for your opinion!

get first hater - checked

I am also thinking about some house subgenre, but I dunno… I don’t think it’s deep house and I don’t know many others. Thank you for your kind words ^^

What exactly does this mean

Yeah, I’m the same. I’m not very good at recognizing specific sub-genres that usually fall in that general 125-135 BPM category, with the 4x4 kick drum. I’ve never been able to figure out how people can determine the difference between a lot of those, but then again, there’s a lot of stuff I don’t know, so that’s just another thing to add to the list haha… Keep on putting in the work, and spending as much free time as you can learning, practicing, and experimenting, and there’s no limit to how far you can go with this. But you’re doing just fine dude, no doubt. Keep asking any questions you have, and posting clips of your stuff. There will surely be more knowledgeable people around here than me, on a consistent basis, who will be able to answer a lot of questions, and provide insight that I’m not capable of. And no need to thank me bro :sunglasses:

why is the file called “edmshit” what are you some coward…cmon champ sell yourself a bit better

“jabroni house”

@0h85 you just made that up, didn’t you?

@hifi actually i began this whole project just messing with serum and trying out it’s possibilities and ended up that day with some totally horrible jumpy 3-note melody and basic drum pattern, so the name was more than suitable back then when I saved it for the first time ^^ to me it’s unbelievable how did it turn out ^^
