If you liked it, go for it, it’s not a bad all in one solution. @CreamLord has one. (mk2 i think?)
The only thing i didn’t like when i tried were the weirdly loose jogs.
Depending on your used market and you could also go for a used pair of first gen CDJ2000, CDJ900NXS or XDJ1000 + a mixer of your choice, but that will be more pricey than the RX and you’ll be buying second hand equipment.
Go for one of the all-in-one solutions imo, they’re good. Anything Pioneer is going to break the bank though, because they can set any price they want.
Yeah I have the rx2 which is the next version up. Can’t really fault it because it has more than enough features for the vast majority of people and being able to plug my turntables into and switch between digital and vinyl is great.
@Pokus
For someone just starting out it’s probably a bit much, depending on what kind of budget you have. But if you intend to be using cdjs as well down the line they translate pretty well across so it won’t be like having to use an entirely new system. If you can get the rx for a decent price used I’d go with that
When I was looking at upgrading my set up last year I was going backwards and forwards on an all in one system with inputs for turntable / controller with 4 channels but need laptop for Serato / DVS mixer for serato.
Sadly I was limited with space so had to go for DVS mixer but love the idea of all in one with turntables plugged in.
basically if you want to just make mixes and play for fun at home I think you could manage with any controller, but if you want to play out at some point you need to know your way around a pair of CDJs. so buy an older pair of pioneer CDJs from your local facebook marketplace / second hand dj and music gear “blocket” or similar. just make sure it’s a model with USB. for a mixer, just get any 2 channel one that you can get a hold of.
Basic bitch Numark mixers are decent if someone is just wanting to practice.
Crossfader will probably die first, but then they can just get by with the volume faders
Crossfade died like I said, but other than that it was pretty fucking solid tbf.
Edit. Perhaps wasn’t this one as it looks like the crossfade can be replaced
I had the M2 for years with no issues, only reason I got rid of it is because I got a new one and donated it to my uni radio because I didn’t have space to keep it around
Edit - actually there was one annoying issue, if you were recording while also having the main out connected to the speakers then the cue would be all distorted unless I put the master volume way down
@anon22530004
Looks good, and nothing too crazy in terms of price imo! This kind of AIO solution is definitely the way I’ll go.
@syrup Thanx for the input. Probably will end up getting it second hand unless fortune dumps a wad of cash in my lap any time soon.
@CreamLord Yeah I’ve been thinking that I could probably go with something cheaper, even something like a traktor-controller, just to learn the basics I guess.
Lots of new devices shown at Superbooth. Not getting any GAS from what I’ve seen so far.
Also lol €2000 for the new OP-1 version, wack.
Even though I’ve kinda decided to not buy more gear right now (should focus on cables/etc and actually hook up and use the things I have), I’ve been browsing shops a bit anyways. Specifically been looking for a real spring reverb for a while, and I stumbled over this unit.
This is one of the cheapest ones I’ve found, but of course there are some obvious downsides at that price. All ins/outs are unbalanced and it’s mono. Still, it would probably pair well with what I already have, fx-wise, for the styles I’m trying to make.
Anyone got any experience with this or similar units?
Ekdahl Moisturizer is cool cause it has a lot of knobs, theres some guitar oriented options like the surfybear (cheap one on reverb right now) but they’ll be the same thing
Yeah, the Moisturizer seems nice of course. Not sure how to get hold of one, but I guess I could email Karl and ask. Seems they’re manufactured in Baltimore though, so not really optimal considering shipping and import costs.
I’d rather not DIY stuff since I have zero experience with that. Good tips though.
