you should link this to Dksbrgmgyrpagd Records man, they’d be feeling it

Dark and gritty. Feels like a montage of a long ship ride across a dark and stormy ocean. How long have you been producing?
Arrangement: 5/10
Doesn’t really seem to have sections, just amorphously evolves throughout the song. I think with a couple simple arrangement changes, you could dissipate the energy and then bring it back to really get the listener jumping. Especially with that triplet kick section where he says ‘just’ ‘did’ that would be a great part for a second drop.
Sampling - I heard the ‘just’ ‘did’ and it sounds like you have a couple other layered samples floating around like the horns at 4:00. Its a good addition and gives it some flavor, nice job.
when it comes to drums, you have a pretty thick and diverse drum rack going on. I like a lot of the hits you chose to use here. If i could give any advice, it would be to actually make them more expansive because - you’re writing a gritty percussion driven song. You really want to give the impression of a morphing and gritty drum set. Panning won’t do it by itself, you gotta EQ a couple of the hit’s individually, play with the volume throughout, give a couple single hits a tad of reverb. Try giving some snares some echoes that ride for a bar or two. Work on making every 8 bars unique in its own way on the drum rack (as far as processing) - and that will translate to interesting and pleasurable drum lines.
Sequencing: 5/10
Feels like your using the same 3 notes the entire song with the bass. Thats your most important part since it is melodically carrying the entire tune, so i would add some more detail to it if i were you. Your arrangement has it going the entireeee song so even daft people’s ears might start getting used to the sound. But i really admire the creativity you use with your layering synths, horns, and FX.
Synthesis: 4/10
As far as synthesis goes, i can just hear your bass and the occasional synth video game note shimmers, a high pitch twang, and the horns and FX. Im assuming you probably only even used the main bass in a synthesis setting as far as editing it, and even that is pretty bad. Now i don’t mean bad __ I just mean that its not ground breaking. If you want to further your gritty effect, i would really consider going within your VST and playing around for a couple hours to great a darker and more manipulative bass patch. Heck you could even change up your processing for it, add phase distortion, phaser, stereo delay, just get crazy and make it unique for you, and that will give you a stronger edge in the synthesis portion of your music.
