Just wanna give everyone a heads up on that Reason Studios just released their OG sample chop software Recycle for free. I don’t have any experience with it, since it’s always been paywalled behind its own overpriced license, but I’m definitely gonna take it for a spin now.

Is it a standalone .exe? Also, do I have to fuck w .rex files or…? (I’m on the bus atm so can’t tell from mobile device.)

The Reason guys invented the .rex format ye, this Recycle software is how you make them. I think most DAWs still support the .rex format.

Then of course you have Akaizer.
From what I understand, TAL-sampler has more features and might mangle the samples you throw into it in a more “authentic” way (actual downsampling/bit-reduction more like on the original hardware), and has more features. Akaizer just does the stretch thing iirc.

If you’ve got reaktor a lot of the grain samplers can get this with a bit of config
