Tbh I’ve not even opened Reaper for seriously for over 6 months. I’m just not in a music making space this year.

tbh Making music in any DAW from scratch is kind of a cerebral, disembodied approach - you have to already sort of know how to make the sounds you want, a bit paradoxical for newcomers and seasoned folks alike.
In the end the only way to overcome that inertia, or at least the best way imo (no not massive loads of drugs @butter_man 
) is putting the physicality back in somehow, i.e. playing it somehow - even if just taps on a screen.
Koala Sampler is my go-to these days for quick and dirty songwriting. Roughly equivalent to having a stripped down SP-404 in your pocket all the time.
In the end most of what we’re doing is at least nominally dance music right? Shit’s gotta have the instant head-bob effect or it’s not gonna play. Tapping out something funky with quantize off worked for Dilla, so it should be good enough for you too…

Yeah I’ve been so cha3bi pilled lately and im a bit dissatisfied with what I’ve been making, just kinda need to clear my head a bit on it.
Had every intention of getting started last week but instead wound up spending all my free time doing a rewire of my studio. Will try to get some sounds into the sampler Monday and try to crank something out

Same. Put it off until last week then I needed to rewire studio and my interface decided it had had enough and blew all its capacitors. Just got it back from repair on Friday. @_ronzlo’s track is awesome though
