Nice one, thought as much
Anyone know any good tutorials for Ableton or just general tips? would be nice to know some of the tricks that make it special
Suite is totally worth it if you think you would buy any of those instruments separately.
Operator is a bad-ass synth. Analog is solid. Sampler gets used a lot.
There’s a new wavetable synth and a new delay.
Holy shit, there are some new instruments that I didn’t even know about.
Downloading the latest version of Live Suite now.
Edit: They are Max For Live instruments which is probably why I didn’t see them.
There are a lot of good Max For Live instruments and effects. Another reason why Suite is worth it.
dont spend any money on software
or dont spend money on software before you done a bit of demoing it
hit the boys up for some samples instead of buying them aswell
looking forward to agent tunes
peace
I agree with the demoing part but buy some good tools.
Suite is worth getting imo but also not necessary to make good music. Imho if you cant justify the price thats understandable. But there is a lot of good shit in suite (particularly the aforementioned entire softsynths and sampler and the max for live fx/processors) that definitely justifies it for me
I’ve heard some mixed things about those Focusrite cards but those might have been earlier gens.
Yeah Ive used a Scarlett for a while and probably wouldn’t buy again fwiw. New MOTUs look good
the thing ableton with m4l suite has that every fucking daw needs to have is A) the macro control assignment stuff B) those modulation inserts like LFO and envelope follower that can modulate any fader in the whole DAW.
all the other shit about ableton is some nice sounding instruments and effects (logic has at least as nice ones, alchemy is definitely pricier sounding than any Ableton synth), good sounding timestretching (logic has that now too it just takes longer) and the workflow (neat but ultimately a matter of preference)
I’ve recommended this video multiple times but this is what made ableton click for me and had a definite wow effect back in the day.
it just shows how to make a bassline on operator, one of ableton’s stock synths but imo it gives you a really good picture of what exactly is possible and it’s fun.
all in all dubspot is a pretty good channel imo they’re a music production school of some kind I think but have a bunch of free videos I think I mostly learnt how to do stuff. there are also full ableton basics courses out there but no body got the time or patience to go through every little button one at a time lol you’ll learn all the essential bits as you go. once you get a hold of what you want just look on youtube for specific tutorials for doing that thing for example warping.
I know my way around it somehow so just hmu if you’re wondering about something specific and I’ll see if I can help
Anyone using Reason? Read somewhere that Joker used it, but that info might be outdated now. I’m on Reason 10, it’s got all the audio editing I need I guess, though I haven’t used it much. Usually I sound design from scratch, mostly using the stock plugs with MIDI.
Itchy might still use reason @Samuel_L_Damnson
Flylo uses Reason iirc, proof it aint about what software you use but how u use it, guy is nuts
I’m still on Live 8. Keep meaning to update to 10. Whats new apart from glue compressor (which I can do on 8 manually)
Glue compressor is fully a different compressor than the standard one, imo they def sound different and it has some different features (soft clipping and range control)
Wavetable is a great synth. Echo is a sick tape delay, main one I use these days, lots of controls and just sounds good. The Pedal device is better for classic distortion sounds than any of the other stock effects. Drum Buss is kind of an all-in-one drum processor hence the name lol, compressor, distortion and drive, eq, transient control and tunable kick boom synthesis. Only use it on my drums maybe a third of the time? If that, but sometimes it makes them sit right or its just useful for a specific purpose
Also a ton of little workflow enhancements, automation is way better, you can make groups within groups and you can freeze and flatten tracks that have external sidechain (!!!) so personally its as much about the improvements to the interface as the new synths and fx imo
Got a crack for 10 lol?
he looks semi sober for once
not myself sorry haha. I’m sure its out there though
I do
It’s good af I’m on 11 now tho after using v4 for like ten years loool
