Learn your method/ sequence of madness. because its a rabbit hole of information & you’re gonna like some results.
it finally happened. I finally understand how to get those Skrillex glitch styles out of my daw & hardware. im not pro but this technique makes for that glitchy edm sound that grew out of the millennium. Thank you Max Detail for the amazing sample packs. Thank you LNAdoesaudiostuff for tutorials. Thank you ASO for the underground mentoring and just overall weighty dubstep scene.
I enabled a random automation on one of the samplers so that the glitches sound mental and not like pop music. (I still got love for pop music)
Been meaning to watch that. The Underdog dude is fucking great, relatively fresh channel for me with great content.
yehhh his videos are great, been watching a bunch of them recently
Just watched the one on polymeters, he’s way over his head on this one lol.
its shocking to me that people would even need a video to understand what he’s demonstrating in that one. Do people just not even try to think about or experiment in their own production anymore haha
youtube production tutorial stuff is pretty fucking wack overall
Yeah, I haven’t exactly learned anything “new” per se, from his stuff.
All of the tutorials are always to make your boring “loop” somehow not boring with no regard to why you’d actually want to make that “loop” “not boring”. People should talk about music more instead of how to just make a 4x4 pattern more listenable with no concept of why one would be even making it lol. It all just reduces the capacity for creativity instead of fostering growth of problem solving for a reason imo
I’ve been slowly writing a script/outline for such a video but it keeps changing and I havent fully locked it down yet
I find the Underdog tutorials go much more into how to use techniques in musical ways, than just show you the technical things.
im not really hating on him directly per se (I havent watched much of his stuff). Its cool thats he and others are putting time into helping people out and learn new stuff.
Just dont really like the idea of how the concepts are being delivered most of the time. Obviously they need people to watch the videos so they can make a living from their work and end up making stuff like how to make this sound, or how to do this specific effect etc because people want to know those specific things they’ve heard in other tracks.
I just think it would be cool to have an approach thats more based on giving people the tools to experiment in more conceptual ways and grow their skills from that direction instead
