Serato vs CDJ?

better hardware?

dunno, everytime i see traktor in the club it’s calibration issues and random errors

Unless you have a tiny ass music collection traktors tune organization is garbo and makes cpus crash hard unless u have like 8g ram

I feel the exact same way about Traktor.

Why can’t you import your music folders into Traktor the same way they’re structured in your computers file directory is what I’m wondering.

Every time I import it negates the file structure and sorts everything by the obscure genre names thats associated with the id tags on files.

Annoying.

Even more so is trying to mix on a Traktor controller. Which a lot of my friends use.

Traktor you can drag and drop?
Cmon @Riddles back me up here haha

Agree with the CPU stuff, I found if you turn down the internal mixer gain it works great. Fuck knows why normal internal gain levels make it wig out tho.

idk I’ve crashed my buddies traktor every time I’ve used it & it almost crashed at a gig we played w 5 mins left in our set

Literally anytime I’ve used it for more than an hour it’s crashed

I’ve used serato for hundreds of hours with a 2gb laptop and it’s crashed on me 2 times

I was vinyl-only for a few years, then I got Traktor using my two vinyl decks, timecode vinyl and Traktor’s own Z2 mixer. It’s a great mixer and overall I do like Traktor, but I could never quite get used to having a laptop plugged in when DJing, it just doesn’t feel right to me (I’m guilty of Serato face) and I use a computer enough during the day for work etc. I also dislike timecode vinyl quite a lot because of the whirring noise and the general clunkiness of it.

Very recently switched to hybrid setup where I use CDjs with Rekordbox for digital tracks, and vinyl decks for my records, to eliminate the need for a laptop when mixing.

Honestly though I wish I’d stayed vinyl-only and just limited how many records I bought. It’s still my preferred way of mixing and I think using your ears is a lot more intuitive than having a screen with bpms, waveform display, beatgrids and the like. I also prefer the sound in general, though it obviously depends on the pressing. Only reason I didn’t stay vinyl-only was due to money and storage space issues…

Same issues here. I just want to be able to play digital tunes and such. stuff that appeals to a wider audience. Especially since I live in Michigan there’s nobody booking classic dubstep DJs (AFAIK). Money isn’t my reasoning for djing but some cash would be nice.

Will fully back the CDJ 350s until you get say over 800 songs on a usb it can cause issues with lagging and taking a while to load info but for just bedroom djing I think they are superb

all you really need tbh

irie af

Fuck memorex tho

those are the only cd-r’s i’ve ever used tbh

Fair enough, for me, they always get fucked quicker than other brands

get CDJs. most clubs have them and use them, so if you get to play out you’ll only have to bring a flash drive with you, as opposed to serato, where you’ll have to bring a laptop and some cases even the timecode vinyls as well as the serato box

ps. I own serato
