Hey! Brand new to the forum, just released my last EP on my old shitty laptop, just upgraded to a new one. Looking for any advice! Muerte is my dubstep track, and Ghost in the System is just a beat.
Bump
I listened to Muerte. It’s a different kind of dubstep than I typically listen to. I like the piano themes sprinkled throughout. The main LFO synth sounds a little to atonal for my ears. The LFO’s sound a little too extreme for my taste. There is a point around the 2:28 mark where it sounds like the same synth briefly plays a note without the big LFO’s, I think more use of the synth in that way would be nice. I like the details you put into your transitions. Also the kick sound a little lost in the mix during the bigger parts. You might need to add a higher frequency layer to the kick to help it cut through. How long have you been producing for?
Hey thanks for that feedback, thats actually really helpful. Now that I’m listening to it, I’m definitely thinking i might need to compress the sub bass a bit more to get the kick to cut through. As to the 2nd drop at 2:28, thats just the same synth line except sliced up in 3/4time. I liked that part too. I’ve been producing on and off for 4 years. Looking forward to releasing some new stuff in a week or so, just got some new equipment to play with
I’m glad you found it helpful. Feel free to take a look at the track I posted a little further down on the page. I look forward to seeing more from you as well!
