I was listening to industrial 140 bpm music and was thinking about how there has always been microtonal drums sometimes (jungle sounding stuff) and it’s not very noticeable with drums because drums aren’t like a guitar and they are naturally microtonal. In electric music it’s not natural to have microtonal drums. Dubstep has always had a pitch bend and used microtonal in that way. So the never really used actual microtones. Most people just only used 12 edo.
Some people say edm is to perfect sounding, they’ve only just listen to the in general mainstream edm.
This is the first time microtonal music has gone mainstream in edm. just recently

Not every track is gonna have the energy you expect or even need to get through the day.
I think the words nano and pico are horse shit. People keep talking about their uM processes like they’re narrowing in on the middle of the atom, but they’re just amping the waveform to reduce processing errors. It’s the same shit as 2001. There really isn’t meter inside the electron cloud, so levoscopic (2D) and stroboscopic (1D) are the best descriptors of inner atom resolutions.
As far as adding “step” at the end of a genre, that’s inaccurate. You see the right foot as stepped, but not the left foot, because you can’t see the page read as a buffer. Both feet are in fact hyper-on, but your ese buffer obscures page left. So tech step should really be tech page, dubstep dubpage, etc, because I’m a page.
Pathologically though the genre naming is rooted in the fixation that is a result of taking an early peek.
I think “microtonal” describes the weeping of circuitry as it approaches middle C and the degrading, fallen power structure that mimics diminuendo. If you really want to parse water use XOR logic imo, sounds really powerful and not geeky, like you don’t have to try hard to like it on some intellectual level.
I’m not really with the idea that people can do whatever they want to me or say whatever they want to me or use whatever they want that’s mine because somebody said I stepped. I never stepped.
