Re: copyright - the aforementioned minefield is no joke, and the “laws” are only as good as your ability to defend from corporate pro$ecution, evidenced by companies managing to hold on to claims after the public domain eligibility date.
That’s why ya just don’t fuck with the Disneys, Sonys, Warners, etc. of the world. And that’s ok: I mean, we’ve all had their shit kinda crammed down our throat anyway culturally speaking.

This is why I’ve really strived to understand this stuff at a basic level and pick sources that I feel have a strong case for being declared safe; the upcoming pack has already been vetted by someone else’s corporate lawyers and downloaded thousands of times.
Unless someone made a tune w sounds from this pack and then went and retroactively bought rights to said pack, it shouldn’t trigger any kinda anything as far as lawbots are concerned.
It’s basically about finding media with a big red stamp on it that says “PUBLIC DOMAIN, we are hosting this and it is free to use however you like.”
And there’s a lot of media out there that fits that description if you’re willing to do a little sifting…
TRUST BREDREN. SAMPLE VALHALLA IS AROUND THE CORNER.
it’s a bit like cheating init
The problem is the same in both the case of Splice and what you’re saying ronz.
If someone uses a sample they have full legal rights to, from a place available for others to use the same sample, makes a song, then registers that song and claims copyright , it’s all the other people using the same sample who has to prove that they’re in the right legally.
This happens all the time with vocal chops from Splice, and since the automated algorithms can’t make the distiction (and how could it?), your shit gets taken down automatically, often with you not being able to contest it, or contact someone directly to clear things up.
