Quick Q. What’s wrong here?
Have downloaded OrilRiver Reverb which I had on my old mac. Extracted the zip and tried drag dropping the vst and the vst3 into the appropriate plugin folder but everytime I open a Reaper project that uses the plugin I get this…
you have to do that stupid thing in the Security control panel where you have to verify the app or whatever, it’s a retarded mac thing
Ahhh thatd be it. Cheers boss
Got as far as this and then nada.
Pissing me off. This is literally the only reverb plugin I use because its so good.
Open Anyway does nothing!
if you like to live dangerously, this command disables gatekeeper (not 100% sure if this still works on catalina tho)
go to terminal and type:
sudo spctl --master-disable
you can re-enable it with:
sudo spctl --master-enable
I don’t know man…
What’s the damage risk?
honestly i dont think its super risky unless you have a habit of downloading and running executables from shady sources, you can just reenable it anyway
Seems simple enough
It’s not something I’ll keep turned off. Literally just need this plugin to run so I can make some beats
just right click open and you should get another option
Im not trying to open the file. The vst is in its folder but my DAW isnt allowed to access it. None of the options i am given allpw me to bypass whatever is prohibiting it.
Turning off gatekeeper seems to be my only option.
from the support article i already linked you:
If you see this warning, it means that the app was not notarised, and Apple could not scan the app for known malicious software.
You may want to look for an updated version of the app in the App Store or look for an alternative app.
Nice one Apple
Just turn off gatekeeper
Ok, right click show package contents if u need to access a component like a .vst. I thought u were being blocked running a prog/app
Osx does this a lot, youdont need to turn off gatekeeper most of the time, just find another menu with better options, often right-clicking
whenever I get that same error I just go system preferences → security then in the bottom it usually says “app name is from an unknown developer” or something and there’s a button that says open anyway
Yeah thats how i usially bypass this nonsense but Im not trying to open or install anything tho. Apple OS is literally blocking Reaper from accessing the vst. Even tho its just sat there, in the folder, inside the OS already
Fucking Macs amirite
Yeah clicking that does… absolutely nothing
thats weird hmm
