You did it!

Ja nice! I kind fo decided I don’t like the way you control the sound via algo’s with their own parameters so I’m looking for something else right now. Might still get one later this year if I have some extra funds though because apparently you get used to it and you actually have good control over it (according to Nick).

Watching modular techno jams does not help my GAS at all.

I put in a pre-order for a yellow acid smiley face RD-6 (TR-606) to go with my yellow acid smiley face TD-3.

I ended up sending back the second UAD they shipped and ordered the Motu 828 instead, arriving tomorrow. I’m going to make a Hydrasynth sample pack using it to check out the convertors for a quick first impression.

Ive been using the 828es here for the past few years. No complaints!

Make sure to give it some room to breathe in the rack or good ventilation though. It gets hot!

yeah I should have gone with a Motu off the bat, really. The main thing that actually turned me off on the UAD was not the interface itself. It was that I tried calling their support line during their very limited hours of tech support, and the call rang through to an odd sounding extension and then dumped the call. (a few times).
And then some other issues on their website.

I got my first MOTU device in the 90’s (MIDI timepiece) and I could still get support or repair for it if it ever actually needed it.

Thanks for the heat displacement tip. I’ll probably need to move a few things around in the rack it’s going in then. Probably the old Focusrite and a patchbay. I should plan on leaving a 1u space above the 828, right?

Got the 828es up and running. it doesn’t seem to be getting hot. routing is sort of a change, but ok. The Apollo’s sounded better but it’s about 1500 for anywhere near the same connectivity from UAD.

I connected it via Thunderbolt 2 for now. The actual connection to the Macbook seemed like it was randomly dropping at first, but seems to have settled in after a few reboots.

Another odd thing, I went to update the firmware and it does successfully reboot, but then just hangs. It can probably wait until I get it connected via Cat-6.

Added a “new” Mac Pro yesterday. 3.4ghz 12core Quad Xeon, 64gb ram, from 2012 or so. It’s running High Sierra atm, but maybe I will put it on Mojave. Which means I can now update my Macbook to newer OS while still keeping one of them on Mojave for the fuckin Virus. I got a TC Electronics Powercore PCI express for it for 10 bucks so it can run all the TC hw accelerated plugins, but they are only 32bit. I’m wondering if I use Jbridge or 32lives, or even just Bluecat Patchwork to run them; with an application between the plugin and OS layer if they can even actually use the card for DSP. another project…

Wow! Did you buy it from a recording studio? Under 1k?

looking to get back into mixing, got tired of having to buy records all the time, gonna go for some CDJs but idk shit about them.

right now im leaning towards the xdj-700 or cdj-350, looking for something on the cheaper side, all i really need is usb and maybe rekordbox would be nice. any better options?

also copped an SM57, finally gonna try micing up my guitar amp :cannon:

I’d go with either the 350, the 850 or the XDJ 1000. You might be able to get a 2nd hand set of 850’s for 700 squids?

Both the XDJ 700 and the 350’s don’t really feel like “proper CDJ’s” imo.
