This and a pair of cdj 3000 for starters. Wow. Imagine.

I kinda see this as not really DJing (not in a hur dur not vinyl durrr) as theres so much going on, and a fair amount of prep to do before, it’s almost like live set / live production. And I’d get proper confused with it all lol

“I noticed the songs don’t mix in key” YEAH RIGHT…

Tbf I get everything that is happening. Tricks are cool, but it’s just tricks to show off the functions, mix sounds dog shit lol. Perform/improvise with any of these flawlessly during an actual 2 hour gig, and not 7 mins 100% pre-planned performance.

Djing is out of hand these days.

Most people I know in my local scene will 100% preplan a set down to the track order and cue points.

That’s cool I guess and can lead to a really nice transition of energy/song flow or whatever. But I feel like really what a DJ should do is pick out like enough tunes for a set and then some, pick tunes that cater to what the vibe of the night is supposed to be, and just select from those during the set based on what you think the room is feeling/needs

tbh I think most guys who are just starting out do this. gives that extra bit of confidence if your already been deejaying for a while and you know your music and your way around the decks, then I don’t see why you’d do that. guess it’s admirable in a way that your willing to put in so much effort to it

Well tbf, with vinyl you really have to know your music, because you can only bring as much as you can bother to carry to the venue and home again. Last set I did (March 2022), I almost planned song for song (with just 1 player hooked up at home). But obvs winged it a lot too with the order.

If I’d play digital and use cue points, I’d set them up in a similar fashion in each song, like intro/drop/bridge or whatevs, so the bars line up when switching. Then you can improvise a bit at least. As long as you know the music, I see no problem with DJing this way.

What’s the going rate on one used technics 1200 mk2

I was looking for some on ebay the other day. Seems like around 700 USD for one that looks pretty good

I’m never going to sell any audio gear ever again in my life.

Have made some regrets in life parting with gear for friend prices.

So sad right now and beating myself up over past transactions.

Ugh, why oh why.

Both times it was for love and not drugs, so guess that makes me a sucker not a junkie, am I right?

That means you’re gay.

I’ve only ever sold 1 piece of gear, and that was the MPC5000 way too cheap to a friend. But I could not for the life of me get into that wack MPC workflow.

Its better when it’s for drugs

Bro, don’t get me started….it’s a lengthy list now with everything that was included in the two sales. All to a high school friend for more than fair price. Unfortunately, we aren’t really boys anymore over the last sale. Kind of sucks. At least I was able to marry my Vietnamese wife overseas, but now I can’t mix at home for the time being.

you could always get some cheaper decks. 1200s are the gold standard but there’s plenty of clones that do a pretty good job. I’ve gigged with my AT-LP120s many times and only had unbearable feedback like 3 times, and usually only for a couple tunes in the set

I’ve got a couple of citronic that are 1210 clones. Do me just fine.
