After a year of E obsession and getting 4 of em I conclude that the best and most truhed option is Octatrack+Digitone.
that’s the most open ended sampler+synth interfaces they’ve made, the OT has the best MIDI sequencer for external gear of the lot, and a used OTmk1+Digitone1 combo can be found for less than a new ‘takt 2 or tone 2.

octatrack is definitely the grail, gonna probably dip my toes in with something cheaper tho
was gravitating towards the syntakt for the 4 analog tracks + digital engines, plus some limited sampling ability. feels like the best all rounder to me. i would hate doing all my drums in FM lol

I really enjoy my Syntakt. I actually ended up selling my octa and keeping the Syntakt. I ended up pairing a sonicware lofi xt with it and it’s such a fun pair. I do miss the octa but I was never really using it at its full capability and at the end of the day i just really like straightforward drum machine programming
