Gear Lust Part 7

Wait, what does flstudio have to do with your grandpa.

No, goodman.

Rare.

Bigups.

My gramps merged with FL Studio during version 9. He is like Skynet, taking over the world with his sick brostep beats!

Well. That is a bit disappointing. I can’t fucking believe you can’t create libraries and import sounds that way. But seriously, I want to know about sampling audio directly. You must be able to truncate a sample…if so fuck it…I’ll just be sampling my hardware or various audio media anyway…

this is a sketch of the first song I’m working on for a new project…a little compression eq and saturation itb …but otherwise all hardware multi tracked into fl studio…going to edit it into something that makes more sense soon.

edit: it’s kinda long …but anyway…I never post any choons

I know I’m kinda late to this but SOPHIE makes all his percussion and a lot of the main parts of his songs on a Elektron Monomachine. The reason that there are not a lot of good examples of non techno stuff is cause only the Techno guys post vids and brag about hardware that’s expensive.

Just bought my first mic. AT 2020. Gonna get an sm57 for recording amps

57’s are great all purpose mics. Good on vox, amazeballs on snares and drums generally. Go to standard for amps. You won’t be disappointed.

The AT mics sound good. I have an AT 3035 and have been generally pleased with it. SM57’s are classic and rightfully so. I use mine on amps and percussion.

Have to get an sm,57 really good r what’s the point in buying mics

Thinking of getting my self a SM7 for percussion hits etc. my self. But it will have to wait after the Sub 37.

Sm7 is amazing but idk for percs?

I bought one of these from a broadcasting studio I used to work for.

Along with being a broadcast standard mic, used in radio studios all over, it also sounds good on kick drums and bass cabinets.

Re20<3
Sounds good on snare top too man.
Its relatively flat mic so most things that u would normally use a dynamic on its good. Plus like no proximity effect

Full on tech/nerd look at the Beatstep Pro.

mmm…DIN sync

I’ve been waiting for months for the Beatstep Pro to come out. It was first supposed to be released in April. I’ll wait for them to iron the kinks out of it but I would like to pick one up.

In the meantime, I did pick up a Korg SQ-1 and a MS-20 mini. It’s been nice coming home from work and getting an all analog jam going with no computers. I have a Volca Beats up in the mix too, so really a little Korg jam session.

Anyways, I will probably get one of these eventually. Seems like a nice tool to have around.

Yeah I’ve used it for loud vocals in the past too. It’s such a great mic.
If I only had one it went on the snare though.

I’d pick one up immediately for the right price.

The heil pr40 is supposedly a similar (maybe better) mic to the re20. One of the engineers who came here had one on kick drum and it was by far the best kick sound straight off the mark for rock drums
