obviously getting stuff played/released or even the odd soundcloud likes are a nice ego boost but surely that’s not the only motivation to open your daw?
look at it more like a hobby/pastime? it’s like if u said u only play video games so other players can see all the achievements you unlocked in a way?
i do it because i enjoy the creative process. easy to take for granted but its so sick that we can just pop open ableton and pull ideas from our brain until we have a piece of music
Glitchart, like allowing the technical limitations and errors to be part of the process, is so much fun. When you’re halfway thru something and maybe a bit lost, and the little technical spaz outs inspire you to take it some where else, vibes
Trying to make a holographic looking thing atm, part of a video series
to be honest it has sort of made its way into video games too which is ridiculous. I have a hard time picking up a single player game just for pure enjoyment when I can unlock more cosmetic stuff etc for an online character to show to others
great, that sounds like a mature and sort of zen way to look at it. but like I said maybe it’s just me and I don’t think I can easily change my thinking on this matter, it’s not really a choice for me.
I can relate. Also add a ton of impostor syndrome of sorts, thinking things like “holy shit i just mashed a lot of filters together on this free app from the app store and posted it with a shit-tonne of hashtags and people are applauding me for being artistic. Any idiot could do that.”
