Damn…brings back so many memories.Used to put on hard hours on that game until my buddy ruined my life by showing me the mssngno cheat…cool track man!!!
Missingno is life though
I know it def became essential once one of my friends had it…no way to battle without it
Damn. Not gonna lie i was not expecting that much filth
Arrangement: 7/10
The energy builds and dissapates pretty naturally, but still stays charged and suspenseful for the drops. Very easy to listen to, good job.
Sampling: 7/10
love the CHUUUU and the pokemon’esqe synth lines and the damn son. I also like the darker percussion hits in the beginning reminiscent of super smash bro’s smacks and hits. I think you could have turned up the volume on the track with the ‘i choose you’ tag line. The percussion sound you have layered over your snare in the drop that sounds like a wet maraca is just fucking tasty btw
Sequencing: 6/10
I like the main line, repetitive as it is, i mean its trap, i didn’t expect a crazy beautiful melody line. It does the job for sure, and the pokemon themed synths in the beginning are a great touch. I like the underlying bass lines too and you seem to have a good hold on organizing and writing drum lines. Overall, good job, but nothing special. Don’t be afraid to break some more barriers - you seem to be edging through them with finesse as it is.
Synthesis: 6/10
Wasn’t really impressed with any of it as far as synthesis - The synth you use in the drop is pretty fucking cool though, I appreciate you not just using some fucking square synths with hella glide and reverb and make a 4 note progression. It almost sounds like a distorted string line, but in any case its pretty dynamic and you made some good sounds with it, so good job. Processing on the drum lines was great. I also like that reverbed out growl/scrape you got going right at 1:51.
All in all, Great great job. I lined out some of my personal opinion weak points and the strengths i thought it had. Great production method and processing though - keep it up man!
Also take it with a grain of salt cause i didn’t even follow my own advice on my own work ahaha
