maybe this will help?

ah nice one! i searched that forum but didnt find this just another thread that didnt help lol

i cannot get my fucking head around this thing :lol_og:

anyone know how to clear a ghost sequence on the analog rytm. theres just this fucking random sequence/pattern that just wont stop. If i click on a specific pad in record mode it doesnt show up there on the sequencer and if i input new steps they dont play. Ive tried clear and that does nothing but everytime i hit play this random sequence keeps playing from nowhere :weary: :weary: :weary: :weary:

sometimes if your drums/beats are boring
you can use a sound that is anything but boring/ full on like an fx instead
and then just cut rythmic holes in it until it somewhat resembles a beat

manually fading shiz, cutting bits off
or like removing bits with an EQ by automating some HARDdips in certain freq areas

on a whole next level
you could think of beats or percussive sounds as consonants
and smooth tones with little attack as vowels

then when you obstruct these vowels with your
percussive sounds= consonants(R)/plosives - - you are practically making approx mouth dance(R)

then on the nextnext level you just recreate a ‘musical post-larynx’ (R)
by throwing some LFOs on them fake guttural bass tones -and then obscure those with the percossant teeth beats, still, bro

got that mouth game open and locked

dont even mouth at me that filters are both teeth and tongues, brah
or that the chest is a room simulator reverb, bruhbruh

jaw height and lips are filters too

I’m pretty into classical Western music theory, lots of interesting stuff to learn. Especially some basic stuff you can implement if you get stuck with some idea and don’t know how to progress.

transient designers/ envelope tingz
SUBTRACTIVE

you have this dumb screeachy ass perc or hihat with some offending-ass highend peak brittle tinytoon inducing ear destroying quality and you think: oi EQ that down

but then dont and instead just use a transient designer and slightly pull back and kill the attack

=better mix, each and every

Yeah transient designers/waveshapers &ting are fantastic not only for finding other ways for stuff to sit in the mix better like you said but also just to play with, good lord… can change the character of a small bit or the whole lot if you want. Also good for different ways of adding dynamic change to a progression or arrangement, esp. when automated.

Can you recommend a good one?

just get a simple one
maybe one included in the daw you use

i wouldnt use them to add effect
only to turn down transients down/pull back in the mix, really…
-unless its in the soundesign stage or something experimental

im really interested in writing music at the moment and trying to get a lot deeper into my theory

any one ever tried writing a catchy melodic song? its fucking hard lol. Not even pop music but just not dark rolling ‘insert underground genre name’

i feel like when i use to make music i concentrated way too much on drum sound or bass sound or w/e to make up for the fact that musically and structurally i was lacking

be cool to have a go at making a more structured sort of band template song, maybe some KVB style shit or at the poppy end some of the MGMT stuff. wish i knew some vocalists

def would like to know more about music theory

this being said i reckon for most pop stuff you’re probably fine with just knowing really basic music theory: scales, chords, chord progression and stuff

like unless you want to do weird ass math rock or classical music, most pop is always the same chord progressions, its not rocket science i reckon
