Production Thoughts

I was thinking maybe the Modulation Matrix being right on the first page might be ok. but a free 2OSC wavetable is sorta covered by Vital.

Like a free 4th tire when you pay for the first 3. But they charge you for the air to inflate the free one.

OH, you are going to love that fkn compressor when your ears get used to it a little. 10 minutes or so…

it’s not your expensive UREI or whatever you got over there. But it’s already paid for, hardware compression and like 4 mouse clicks.

now I want to figure out if I can send the Mac output thru the DSP to the other mac via optical. so thats spdif adat optical to firewire800, or it won’t come channel seperated in single bounce pass. hmmm. work to do

i’m gonna figure this out, because then it becomes a two-way multi fx unit with dsp mixer. using almost 0 cpu. My Pro is from 2010 so it is slow as hell, but it can handle like 100 tracks of audio. This is going to get crazy ::smiley:

A wavetable synth for a loonie is not too bad.

It does look like Ableton’s Wavetable synth. I had to look up if it was made by the same people. It is not.

is there a daw that doesn’t come with something equally usable for free? I am actually having a difficult time coming up with one.

I don’t know. I never had a wavetable synth until Ableton’s Wavetable and it took me a while to start using it.

Then I also got Pigments which is a great synth and is several synth types rolled into one.

I bought Serum a long time ago, so I have a lot of stuff already done with it. I’m not sure I would buy it now, with Vital available for free. It’s basically a copy job, but a good one. Is what it is. I use it sometimes anyway. For 200$ difference it’s a pretty easy call.

this GUI design style is very like Pigments and many others now. not too bad on the eyes with the cooler colors.

They haven’t even tried to disguise it :lol_og:

Exactly, even if I only use it once. A quid for WT synth plugin is a ridic bargain.

I fkn love Vital. Such a lovely piece of kit.

Okay, this is pretty damn insane. Never heard about ring mod sidechaining before, but I guess it makes sense when you have as deep control over digital sound as we have nowadays.

It’s pretty hard to hear what the dude is saying, but holy fuck, he’s not joking with the surgical part.

it’s what happens when you use too fast of an attack setting on the Personality Compressor. Somehow you have identified the human being with the least dynamic speech ever to talk about dynamic control.

Yeah man.

A friend sent me this, pretty interesting technique. Creating feedback loops and stuff on hardware mixers.

Had a dream where I had this idea of making a song where it sounded like everything was one sound. I there was a lot of side chaining and compression lol. That’s all I remember.

So like a synth was just an extension of the kick or something.

I usually do this.
Like setting up fx chains to create textures/modulation based on f.ex. kick or snare or whatever sound really. I think it’s common when you do techno rumbles etc.

I do this with a little preset I made for a plugin from Valhalla.
It basically is a freeze function for a reverb with delay on it.

It makes gigantic infinite tones & textures.
I used it on a synth once, but now I run all kinds of shit through, fucking with the envelopes, then print the output/chop it up/add more fx to it.

Yeah it was somewhat similar to that. Obviously a dream so a bit ridiculous anyway.
