Production Thoughts

I’ve used a hat or other really sharp transient for the dummy kick before. I feel like it gives you more control with the attack/release of the ducking

That’s a zesty option.

Nice that. Looks like a Valhalla product.

yeah like what the others said

you can give this dummy a different shape and balance that shape against the track - usually so this is shorter or smaller than the kick - so the actual kick is crammed in and still fighting a bit for its space

but i would say use it more for creative experimentation than for drums - if you want a natural drum sound

if you want a natural drum sound then cut holes in all the other parts of the tracks and leave as much space for them as possible on every conceivable level

had a sudden desire to make a track and opened ableton for the first time in years, only to see that I don’t have a single VST installed, I’ve deleted all my sample packs and also apparently all of my unfinished project files lol.

I made a psytrance loop yesterday with 5 instances of the Thor synth, old Reason stock. Made kick, hat, sub, bass and wonky synth by only using that. Don’t need no VSTs or samples bro.

if you want some samples, you just ask dude!

get back into making tunes, its good for you!

dont get put off by this guys ^ body language lol

this might be someone on heres secret spanish cousin

all the rex stuff is super counter intuitive to me but the vid is pretty good

if you hate samplers like me, then you can just analyze note chord content of wavs in a different program and then work in the audio lane

  • good idea if you want to avoid all the fucking around with single break beat hits, time stretching and spending time on the sampler

ofc you don’t if you know what your doing but my workflow has always relied heavily on samples and good presets. cba to make my own patches and I’m not really creative enough.

I got you on samples m808. Just let me know what you want and I can put a lil something together for you

I’m beyond browsing, you imagine what sound you want, and you make it. Samples or synthesis, I’m only judging myself. Rabbit hole is deep. Involves polyrhythms and meters. Formulating still, but found some vibes so far.

I know what I’m doing.

Warhammer meme material imo

Go for it. I was drunk/high af lol.

The “i know what I’m doing” really sells it.

I’m too lazy tho

Could I get some perspective on this style of bass patching? There’s obviously a filter/ fade-in which brings the bass in nicely. The bass is like automated attack/decay/sustain/release? With like a pitch-up automation? Mostly mid-range for that brosteppy sound.

yeah i think you are right about some filter linked to an ADSR envelope. Kind of sounds like there is something else happening too. Maybe wavetable modulation or something.

What is synth do you typically use? Lets try to remake the sound

I been using Ableton Lives wavetable synth. I got serum & massive too (brostep movement)

I’d wager the midranges in that tune were made in massive. I feel like the scream filter can get you pretty close the tonality of the sound

That’s what’s up. I’ll probably re-install massive for this reason. Also, I’m okay with not knowing the exact formula that was used. Everyone has their signature style right?
