RIAA Preamp question

Anyone know or had any experience with these. will be needing one so that a record player cann be used with a new hi fi system

any reccomendations
ill probs be loooking in the range between 20-40 quid

You pay for what you get and that probably isn’t enough for even a fairly decent one

If you want good playback from a single deck get a valve one IMO but then I have good ears and I’m snobby

You aint gonna get a decent pre-amp for that little amount of cash and i seriously wouldn’t bother with tube based pre-amps unless you happen to be a rocafella.you can get some decent tube pre-amps that don’t cost an arm and a leg that some may find aesthetically pleasing (usually the ones with less valves)but they’ll do things to your audio that is not representative of the material you are playing(especially transients and low end).you can get a decent solid state Bryston 2nd hand (500ish) which can pump out some serious volume with accuracy(i’m assuming that is what you are going for)if you are just looking for an aur-gasm,go tube

This is literally just for riaa equalisation. I’m sure that the actual riaa stuff in a HiFi amp isn’t that good. Idk its either that or buy a whole HiFi which wouldn’t be ideal.

Its for my folks so I’m not sure its that important that its tube based.

Bigger thrift stores have about 10 of these lying around at any time.
Most of them will be Pioneer or something similar. You could try to find like
an Onkyo or Marantz for a good price, but it’s really simple circuitry anyway.

None of them will be that good. All of them will do fine. It’s just like playing
mp3’s in a club really.

something like this would do the trick from the sound of it:
