red pants!
if you have Waves plug-ins Iād highly recommend using their 24db/octave EQ, will cut out ANYTHING likeā¦entirely. So if thereās ugly top-end stuff on your operator, using that will surely cut out the high frequency information thatās probably the culprit.
Is that the H-EQ?
Yes sorry I didnāt mention the plug-in name, itās the H-EQ
Yeah thatās the only EQ I use
parametric eq and attack and turn the levels down on the sub slightly
if you are having problems with clicks and pops in your subs there are a few ways to deal with it, sometimes having a fiddle with the filter envelope and the amp envelope respectively can help, or even seeking it out on a parametric eq with a notch upwards to find the exact frequency and then notching it down to get rid of also can help. but i will say sometimes a sound just isnāt working and you should try not to get too attached to a sub because you may find a better one with another plugin or patch. hope this helps! big up!
yeah you shouldnt have anything else at all hitting the same frequency as your sub is what im saying. if you do you should be dealing with that before worrying about what your sub itself sounds like haha

this kinda dropped off my radar haha
big up
was having mad clicky shit from heavy sidechaining too, had all the ratios too high was ok to fix, not a problem eq could really help with though
causaa i think iāve seen u suggest tuning ur kick away from the sub? do u not find they then sound like clashy and out of tune, i like when they hit really together feels so forceful
i havent got the best bass response on these speakers, but just having a strong kick sample and mixing it right with the sub is peng, no need to fiddle with sidechaining
i donāt watch things being in tune. i just do what sounds good to me.also what do u mean by clashy? they rather clash if i donāt tune it out of the sub range. have u experienced the āforcefulnessā that occurs when u do it on a big system? thatās the difference. as u said you canāt really have accurate big bass response at home so if it sounds āforcefulā on your setup, doesnt mean it wouldnt translate better otherwise
i just mean sometimes when i transpose drum samples they sound weird and out of tune with the rest of the drums or tune for some reason but nvm if it works for u it works, iāll give it a try some time
Hifi speakers arenāt really the go with bass and iāve been using a pair of ATH-m50xās lately iām starting to think the best go-to for bass representation would be a pair of monitors and sub. I find you canāt really feel the full force of your sub basses through headphones and they end up a lot louder than they are meant to be. All i can say is, muck around with a bunch of compressors on your bass and try get it sounding as fat as possible. Maybe even put a little bit of deep reverb on your kicks to emphasise the sub. Usually works for me.
doesnt make a whole lot of sense to compress the sub tho
and just a thought
maybe you get those clicks when you use a comp and the attack is too quick?
