can u tell me, for what reason in the world, and how, this would ever be weird? except you’re talking about brostep people of which i assume most never touched a vinyl record, so yes, this would be weird
It’s Joe Nice
I guess I didn’t really mean weird so much as, like…I don’t know, I just know that some people don’t like unsolicited dubs and I’ve been outright rejected to my face before when trying to give a guy demo CD so I’m always a little cautious about it.
joe nice is one of the guys who has and always had only straight dubplate business on his hands, i don’t think he would mind (lol not that anybody would) getting a sick dub he does not even need to cut. one thing to consider though, you should feel comfortable about the tune itself
It’s disrespecting your own music and very weird. Somebody wants to play your music, he cuts the dub (and pays for it). Playing out sick music is Joe Nice’s job. Being on the look-out for fresh talent is part of this. You paying for a dub to give him so he can appreciate and play it out in order to do his job is (from my point of view at least) very masochistic and self-devaluatory.
Just give him a CD. You want the music you put out there better than the rest, thus it’ll need to pass the same tests as the rest. Don’t cheat yourself.
That’s a good point, so it’s kind of standard practice for a DJ to ask a particular producer for a dub (wav that is) to get it cut?
Seems pretty weird like that… Am i devaluing my music by giving a producer a demo vinyl? Dosent seem like that would be the case.
idk man paying 35quid so another person may be more likely to play it out seems like a shit way to promote your music. maybe it’s more successful though? I’d be weirded out.
Yeah basically. Like say you have a tune on your SC I like, Id message you and say could I get a WAV of that so i can get it cut. I imagine 98% of the people are well happy to get messages like that, cos someone else is willing to pay £40 for a tune you made.
Once people get abit more noticed you get guys like @RIZLATEEF who can just ask on social media for people to send tunes and get a load cut.
@Riddles has quite a few forum members tunes cut for example.
