Burial

There are two new releases, the Thom Yorke one on XL Recordings that look like the previous TEXT releases Burial & FourTet have been doing over the years and a Hyperdub release.

Think we have only heard one track off each.
Both are sounding crap, the Thom one sounds better than the Hyperdub so far but nothing to get excited about

Fucking reviewers creaming themselves over this new Burial shit.

Seen. I thought those tracks were those old Burial, Yorke and Fourtet tunes.
Skipped right past 'em!

It honestly feels like he built up enough goodwill with the first two albums that anything he does is unimpeachable, even if it’s a bit crap.

Yeah, what the fuck. Sounds like he’s sampled everything from some low bitrate mp3s.

Burial fell off so hard years ago. Hasn’t been relevant or exciting, heck, he hasn’t even been listenable for a long time

I have most of his early stuff, not been a fan of the new

Same. I think subtemple/beachfires was the last one i bought and that ain’t great

this is the burial ā€˜sound’ now

some of this reminds me of early transmat stuff

Bit late for that seeing as I already bought it. Had a bit of a skim through, enough to know that I’ll like it at least as much as his other releases in recent years. It seems to be ā€˜cool’ to not like Burial now. I don’t know what people are expecting. Him to just make crackly 2-step forever like his albums?! To be honest, a lot of his stuff in recent years, I haven’t liked on first listen cos I keep expecting something different, but it always grows on me so much as I get to know the tracks better. This thread has just turned into people continuously saying Burial ain’t as good as he used to be, and it’s getting boring now.

Also, Subtemple/Beachfires is a masterpiece! So beautiful, and so emotional. Probably just as much as his early stuff.

Yeah I think same for me, though I really like that one.
