The night line up is better than the day one this year

Had a chat with Tessela about it and I had to convince him that the predominantly UK
crowd wasn’t a bad thing. It’s basically just a ton of people making extra effort for
the music imo. I mean, its not really exciting in terms of location or anything like that.
It is entirely about the music. The first edition was a huge move for Dekmantel and it paid off
in terms of international recognition etc…

I dont think the niggt line up is better tbh

Well there’s a lot of worthwhile sets during the day of course, but the nights have
Gesloten Cirkel, Surgeon, Tessela and Stott. Even Dopplereffekt and Paranoid London.
It is at least really solid

I’ve wanted to hear this played out for time:

I’ll just take the record to work next time.

Btw. they sound very strict when it comes to drugs / weed. are they?

lol hope not

Checks at the entrace to the festival site are very strict. Camping entrance was the complete opposite.

can I go through the camping entrance even if I’m not camping haha?

Not through the normal entrance I guess (they do check bracelets), but it’s possible to jump over the water surrounding the camping on your way back from the festival site. I don’t know about your athlethicism, but from what I remember seeing last year the success rate was quite high.

Anyone know the best way to get from the centre of Amsterdam to the festival site?

I am goddamn hyped to finally see Shackleton.
The whole saturday UFO stage is massive.

Arrive in Amsterdam Tuesday morning, Dekmantel in 5 days time, starting to get hype!

^ That set was mental. People on ket climbing the truss all the time :cornlol:
Saw people fall while doing shit like that though, can’t recommend it.

I imagine there’s no reason to get onto the campsite if you aren’t staying there. Its
not like the major festivals where there’s parties and shit.
In last years there was a shuttle bus going from ā€˜Amsterdam Zuid’ station, which is
of course easy to reach by public transport.
Security is quite strict, don’t test them.

edit: Do test them, just don’t go with the wallet or anything like that.

you almost had me discouraged

dont know why i only booked from the 31st to the 3rd, might postpone my return trip for a day. how long you staying for liam (and harkat too i assume)? need to hit up rush hour too

Mate & I are heading out the 28th and Harkat is meeting is the 29th, we head back on the 4th

Think I can finally manage to process what was an amazing week in Amsterdam.

So, Dekmantel.

So so many highlights:

  • Objekt followed by Robert Hood on the Friday early evening was great too. Objekt played some really cool sounding stuff as expected, but Robert Hood came with the big techno bangers and the vibe in the tent was great. As much as it’s overplayed and everything the Re-Plant of Never Grow old got a huge reception and everyone went crazy.
Tessela b2b Untold at Melkweg on the Friday night, played all sorts of stuff I’d never heard before. Crazy percussive stuff that sounded like new Tessela stuff as far as I could tell. Top set though and got everyone moving. (Tres bien? @Harkat)
  • Palms Trax on the Saturday afternoon was a perfect set in The Lab. Surrounded by the trees in that tent and Plams Trax just hammering out banger after banger in the sun.
  • Jeff Mills live set on the Saturday night at the mainstage. Bells. Nuff said.
  • MCDE on the Sunday afternoon was perfect for when I was a bit hungover and worse for wear, his set full of funk, disco & sunkissed house before venturing into a bit of harder territory was the pickup I needed!
  • Nina Kraviz in the UFO stage on the Sunday evening. Wasn’t really sure what to expect from her as I haven’t really checked many of her sets. She absolutely smashed it, really got me going when I was feeling pretty fucked from the week’s activites. Topped it off with a techno remix of Cafe Del Mar, great cheesy hands in the air moment haha.

Just a small selection of the highlights from what was an incredible weekend of music. Every set I seen I enjoyed, every set seemed to be busy and everyone was moving, seen no bad vibes all weekend and no fights or aggro at all. The sun was shining all weekend too!
Loved the stages as well, Main Stage system was incredible, the vibe in the tent all weekend was unreal, Selectors stage with the tree in the middle just looked stunning and The Lab was cool as fuck! Only gripe I had all weekend was the horrible 45 minute security queue in the heat on the Saturday afternoon, which they seemed to fix on the Sunday as I walked in in 10 minutes!

Being the first house & techno festival I’ve been to, I don’t really have much to compare it to, but for me, it would be very very difficult to beat. I found it almost perfect.

Also, shouts out to @Phigure who met on the Saturday night at Pev vs AMUS then hung out with him for the rest of our time in Amsterdam!

2016 anyone?
