For me it’s because ii listen to mixes on my commute and certain places i get no signal therefore no music. Also because i have limited data on my phone contract, so if i can dl a mix rather than stream it that’s what i prefer to do.
limited data? I don’t think I’ve ever had that. my phone bill is like 20 euros (15 pounds or something) per month and it’s unlimited calls, texts, data etc… my home internet is also 100 megs and costs about the same

Most of my favourite mixes from 2005-2007 is not streamable these days.
download and keep your own copy might be the best way of remembering some of those unreleased dubplates, Is Everything Cool?

My package is 6 quid a month and with that I get 2gb.
I don’t see the point in paying for more and being able to access the internet all the time. I don’t need it.
Downloading mixes is my preference too.
streaming means the data is stored in some energy inefficient data centers that you don’t even want to know what their carbon footprint is my g, and probably backed up in several of these in multiple locations by the streaming platform, streaming is like the moral equivalent of not eating pizza crust but worse m8

it’s like the uglier version of what soundcloud used to be before the dumb redesign with unlimited (mp3) upload.
mixcloud is dead for me with the “no rewind” thing, plus you can enable direct download from hearthis
