Can i just use a bit of a sample in a track i already made and it’s in? i dont get the rules, thought the competitions were usually about limited resources to see what everyone can do with them - lol Objekt signed one of them to Hessle didn’t he? I think it came 2nd.
The idea was to do something similar to rhythm roulette.
You’re supposed to use the samples provided but you can also use some your own.
For my song the only sounds that weren’t from the pack are the kick and the bass. And even then I layered some of the sounds from the pack into those.
I’d say if you’re looking for a “fair” amount of pack vs personal: make the lead/melody from the pack and use personal stuff for the rest.

My last one was 
sample pack, I think that is part of the challenge for me. Forces you to dig into the samples for sound design building blocks.
Yeah I agree it really forces you to come up with some interesting stuff. My thing with the last couple comps that led me to do this was that I always ended up wanting to add a little bit of stuff from my own stuff and not being able to. I’d end up with a couple versions of the song but I couldn’t use them in the comp lol.
Like I love layering my kicks with hand drums and that kind of thing.
Also I was getting kind of bored and felt like I was doing the same thing a lot of the time. Want a bass? time stretch something and pitch it down then fuck with it 30 mins. Want a kick? Glitch something out. Kind of kept doing that and now I have a massive library of clicks and funky basses lol. I’ve just been enjoying carefully layering my percussion and spending a long time putting together a bass that would be a lot more difficult using only the sample pack.
I started a tune. Used all sounds from the pack except for a pad. Might have to use another bass sound too.
