How u think they get all that modulation? Lots of eels behind the scenes that will never have their contributions to electronic music acknowledged.
Tbf I do feel a bit overwhelmed by choice at times when it comes to choosing what plugins or apps I’ll use to generate new ideas. It’s also probably why I’d view it as a bit liberating to get rid of the iPad alltogether, allthough I like the idea of having a portable mini studio/recording and mangling device.
But liking the idea of having something available is not to say that I can justify having spent lots of money on both portable gear and apps over the years. What I enjoy the most tbf is working on my computer/workstation, having a “one place for everything” kind of setup.
I’ve torrented a lot of plugins, but after having spent some time with several of them I see that there’s a select few that I use over and over again, and I plan on buying a license for them when I get a steady income - deleting most of the other ones I have laying around.
ipad pro with all the apps sounds like a really fun way of making music. I wouldnt get rid of it
use oil money if you broke?
This looks so nice for controlling the modular

Forthcoming on Ninja Tune
Found a .wav file from 2017 in my backups folder that was simply named “technojam.wav”. Listening back to it, mix is kinda dull / rough, but the tension and progression is definitely on point - imo even more on point than the stuff that I currently make all in the box.
From what I remember I think I made this when I had a small modular setup together with a arturia beatstep. Tbf this alone just raised my GAS to 100%. Seems like the iPad has to go.
Now the real question emerges:
What gear? AIO solution like Push 2, Elektron (Keys / Rytm or the likes), or a combo of dedicated synths/drum-machines.
Ne1 done biz w Audiotopia.com?
They have a RME bundle right now whose price is TGTBT.
Really dig this track. I have the same experience as you, my live jams are always way more interestingly structured when I perform them on hardware than when I multitrack everything clean and try to arrange ITB.
IMO the RYTM is the most special of the current Elektron boxes. Has a really cool sound and is capable of full (minimalist) tracks on its own. The workflow is great and has a ton of performance features, plus outputs for every voice if you want to multitrack. Overbridge is cool in theory, but I never use it myself so I can’t comment on it.
I agree 100%! I mean, I’ve gotten to a point where structuring tracks isn’t that big of a deal if I work fast and don’t get stuck in a loop, in a way. Still though, it can tend to get a bit formularic and rigid with a mouse and keyboard.
All this being said, I sold my iPad today (for around €700), and probably going to buy a digitakt second hand next week when the owner gets back to town. Meanwhile I’m looking up all I can find on the machine, comparing it to the other Elektron machines. The Mk1s go for nice prices second hand.
Been playing around with it now for a good couple of hours. Sounds, feels and looks great. Workflow is a breeze after getting my head around the initial stuff.
Edit:
All this being said, after fucking around for hours trying to get Elektrons native transfer app to connect to it, it still feels daunting to have to learn a brand new instrument. Can get some nice jams out of it, but have yet to implement it fully into my workflow - which I imagine will take some time.
Did someone beam you up while taking that picture?
Isn’t it a regular pedalboard?
Idk, never saw something like it before so…
??
Learner kit for serial stompbox fx - which can be dope af.
Back in the day a lot of sampling/synthesizing musicians used to rely heavily on repurposed guitar stompbox fx, esp things like MXR ring mods and Boss delays.
These are also super fucking cool as aux sends and such these days.
Yea fair play.
I feel like you’ll find a variety of fx pedals in most home studios, but maybe it’s a
techno/electro thing. It shouldn’t be though.
This is from the Mayaan Nidam RA article:
Feel like her process is more interesting than the actual music but the article came
to mind because of all the pedal talk.
Tho these were the size of my palm… but I rly dk, all well XD
Anyone have a good suggestion on buying a laptop for producing? Mine is going to die someday…
