If you can find pdf’s online I’d recommend reading:
“Music Theory for Computer Musicians”
“Composition for Computer Musicians”
“How to Make a Noise”
“Mixing Audio” by Roey Izhaki
"Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio"
The DSF production bible is a great resource, as well as the old production message board, which is littered with gems of knowledge. If you know what DAW you’d like to use maybe even start reading the manual for that to get an idea of the features and how it’s layed out. Really, Google is your best friend, you just have to have the self-initiative to dig deep and learn.
Thanks. I just took a screenshot of everything youve listed. I feel like you wont care about my progress on how much knowledge ive gai.ed from reading amd videos so i wont update you guys on anything until i have a pc and software. Thanks a lot.
woa doooood…woa… You need a life lessson. The music industry is an ENTERTAINMENT industry, not a TALLENT industry. People make it big because of their image and entertainment ability, not their musical skills. There are bajillions of musicians that can out skill 99% of the pros but they lack image so they will never be “big.”
yeah man … it’s weird and i’m with you but florida or pitbull are actually vibing off and getting their vibe down… it’s almost unbelievable but there’s noone out there making and earning from music they dont like. Because you can’t do that. Ofcourse there’s some session musicians just playing something in that they’ve been asked to, but a producer cant make tracks without vibing.
I didnt plan on making music that could be turned down. Humans cant deny good music. If it makes them move, i think eventually the most greedy record label would have a change of heart and sign talent. If im wrong, then thats where the “forcing” my way in comes to play.
I feel like if i give up now, I’ll be letting people down. People that wa.t better music but dont know how ti find it. People that need someone to pave the way, maybe. No ones gonna gangsta me out and make me look like every other black producer. I will not force myself to dress weird just to get attention. This is about music. Fame is like a little flame. If it hits the right thing (a pair of ears), the flame could be massive.
Let’s take stock of what you have. You have posted a lot in this thread. What device are you using to post here? Are you posting all of this from your phone? Is it an Android or iPhone?
It could be a place to start. You are saying you don’t access to a PC right now. You could start making beats on your phone. It’s not the most ideal scenario, but it’s better than nothing. You will have to pay a small amount $$ for these apps but it’s not very much in the scheme of things.
Look into Caustic, it kind of has a Reason like interface.
There is also Electrum, which is a cool drum machine and ReLoop which is a sequencer made by the same person. I’ve gotten some beats laid down with those.
I got five hundred something and counting song ideas recorded on my phone.
Im gonna use the rockband 2 drum pads and drumsticks (so glad i remembered i had those now i dont have to buy drums) to teach myself how to play drums while watching drum tutorials. I can experiment with that because i wanna do mostly dnb.
I figured that learnimg instruments would expand my creative process giving me more ideas.
Mom’s not the type of person to buy me something like that when i ask. If she did, itd be a long time after i asked. And like i said, shes not very supportive of this. Theres always rolling of eyes when i mention it. Hurts me every time. Maybe to the point of going insane.
Picking up an instrument is really not a bad idea. I mean, we are talking about music here. By the time I was sixteen, I had moved through drums, guitar, alto and tenor saxophone before I finally settled on bass at eighteen. I didn’t start producing until a couple of years later.
