^^^ is a good example of practicing relative pitch, and your understanding of intervals. This was 16 years ago for me. Tried to figure out stuff I listened to just by ear.
I think my absolute fav NES soundtrack is Shadowgate. Incredibly creepy atmosphere. Great metric modulation and shit going on too, and lots of atonal stuff.
The BO theme may not be the greatest menu music ever, but it’s so nostalgic for me
I think I love a strong/memorable menu theme more than anything - just sets the tone for what the game will be and get you really into the mood for it when done well
This was a classic as well - remember staying up late being somewhat scared playing zombies for the first time and staying in the menu for a few mins to psyche myself up for another go
