Post your'e music

Sound design is on point, rhythm is structured enough. Song structure, way off. This is a preliminary comment provided to you while I’m eating dinner, will elaborate soon.

I was skeptical at first, and it is a bit everywhere, I’d take the low end out of the intro, everything seems pretty tight though, this is deranged in a good way. I’d tone down or filter in/out some of the weirder stuff happening around a minute in.

Hard to criticize because there’s clearly a vision here. Feels like video games. Good work. Eq your synths though and play with fx. there’s a lot of high end stuff happening at once.

:triumph:. I’ll wait patiently. Not a ton going on structurally.

Bit too chaotic for me. Nice sounds though.

There’s nothing at all going on structurally. You got one section, good intro, that you’ve repeated, with some silence inbetween. Also, where bass? Might be too low for my monitors, but just sounds like kick to me.

I’d get out the headphones then, there’s a ton of sub in here and the synths and bass are playing together to create a kind of subtonal trudge.

You’re correct there’s no build/drop structure, it’s pretty much one bass line all the way through with reverb manipulation and the drums.

And 1 kick pattern, 2 perc elements. No progression. I have nothing against minimalism, but this is way sparse.

I definitely feel you on that, it’s still getting reiterated, I would say in my own defense that without the sub frequency range the entire track is just that kick pattern and the (four or five) perc elements.
Very repetitive and completely pointless without the lower end.

Is it the background textural/metallic bits that throw it off? Too much chaos is never enough for me most of the time. Filtered and turned them down a bit. Also gonna give it a quick mastering pass after lunch. Probably shouldn’t have made final decisions on a track when I’ve been jamming on it for hours and my ears are tired. Will update the post a bit later

It’s the general disarray of melodic content. I have a hard time finding the intended direction. It does not sound like there is one.

Ah, no worries. I’m quite happy with the melodic content, but as I said I like chaos. It is just a 64 step pattern repeating and I definitely hear it as such but I can see what you mean. I did give it another layer of polish on slight mix tweaks and a little mixbus love.

new jungle/whatever it is track i’ve done

Breaks are clean, lil bit loud maybe, Melodies are clean (even if they seem to meander a bit) bass is hard. The breaks where the reverb comes out to play are really nice. This is honestly just good music man.

This second track is also great, sound design is cool, basses are a lil middy but that’s a jungle convention far as I know. I didn’t like that pause in the music with the sweeps, don’t like how the sweeps come in? They have too much going on in the mid high range I reckon. Otherwise I have literally no criticism to offer brother, these are chooning as fuq.

yeah the sweeps are bit shit aint they, i didnt catch the first one till earlier today it blew my fucking ear off ill have to change it when i got time. my daw crashed but it backed up but i guess not the part when i was leveling the fx i didnt check when i rendered. thank you for feedback brother i appreciate it

No doubt g. Stay up!
If you get a chance check out my track a little further up. Streaming on the DOA slipper rave tonight. Deep cut ”Dronestep” thing. Trying to determine if it works or if I’m hallucinating from listening to that tonal synth for a week 🫨

Monitors that cut off above deep deep sub tones will not pick this up. Sounds pretty good on headphones imho

no problem will check it out for you now

yeah i think its alright but the distortion i cant remember which one it is but theres 2 types

asymetric and other one i cant remember (harmonic) btw i could of butchered this completely lol

but its causing some clashes with frequencies but tbf its not bad but it sounds very dissonant monged. which could be a good thing

the bass i think is fine have you sidechained it to pump up again or did you play the base just after the kick? anyway i think its fine but second half of the track change the bassline up add a few more notes and cut the bass notes off at the end a release. first part is fine, drums are good. i think it could be quite good with a little touch up

but the distorted drones try and see if you can change the distortion type it might fix the feel of the song. also add some weird reverb fx now and then

let me know how it goes mate got some potential! keep going

It’s just attack and pattern placement with the sub. Was thinking of side chaining that drone synth that comes in at 0:58 since it rides out the entire song, but texturally it doesn’t work. I have some frog basses and things I made when I was doing filthier stuff was thinking I’d throw them in the breaks in that second drop.

I filtered the hats and percs to cut off at a higher range, love that swingy crunchy texture, but I fear I hollowed it out by doing that.

It should start off feeling very cold and machiney and apathetic, and around the second drop-outro start feeling more melancholy and sad.

This is my first rodeo using drone elements in a deep track, don’t think anyone else has done this either (maybe a good reason for that) so it’s definitely pretty niche.
As long as the melancholy is coming through and it isn’t annoyingly bare then I’ll revisit it later!

I could definitely open up the space to let the reverb fx breath a little more. That was more present in the original mix but got choked when I boosted the sub

Really appreciate your feedback g. Been hoping someone would tell me to give this one up since I started it and nobody has, so :man_shrugging:t2:
