You can never get to know your tools enough, including other people’s take on the same tools.
Roughrider 2 is one of my go-to comp plugs. Always great for punching things up, except… at the same time was struggling with high end clarity in drum mixes, constant struggle.
Today I’m watching a compressor shootout on YT where dude’s showing sweeps in the spectral and time domains and fuck me if RR2 doesn’t roll off everything above 3kHz. 
Guess it’s better for basses lol.

I got RoughRider 3 but not used it much. As I understand it, it’s best for crushing beats / low end.
The NY Parallel preset is cool.
