Probably wohld genuinely sound amazing if recorded with a decent mic in the right club

fuck up your 808 and then resample it

gold bro

and consistent level of shitiness

no doubt

just for the switch up innit

have you done all the parallel stuff and all the buss group stuff
or do you mean directly on it - like only one track running bass ?

maybe consider getting a wheel to wheel and naturally compress it

sub bass being these waves that are difficult to handle often means you fuck up important distinctive features of the sound just by doing very little

but it also might be a case of you AB’ing in a way where you trick yourself into hearing it losing impact when you treat it with some effect

its unfortunately really important to rest your ears to even be able to judge bass too

but if you had a wheel to wheel you could make the picture/image/ spectrum of the bass smaller, which means the distinctive bit of it are harder to fuck up

i only use hardware samples for bass
or low pass parts of the other sounds and make bass out of them underneath - but this is probably too messy for rap beats tbh

bass

Not liek this then :lol_og:

Although I have ripped this for sampling purposes.

I made a stepped frequency hi-pass filter in Ableton Live influenced by King Tubby’s Big Knob filter that was on his MCI mixing desk. I used 10 auto filters chained together with each one set to the same frequency as the Altec 9069B which was the filter used in King Tubby’s mixing desk. Each filter is in an effects rack and selectable with one knob. This filter was not continuous but had 10 frequency steps.

Kind of geeky, I know. It sounds good.

I just re-read my post. I meant to say in Ableton Live. I didn’t build a hardware filter lol. I wrote that first thing this morning. Edited my post to reflect that.

I built an effects rack in Live using 10 Auto-Filters chained together set to the frequencies of the Altec 6069B.
