i use 1 or 2 osc for most of my sounds, but then again i don’t really do any heavy sound design
What do you use the osc on?
For a bro sound I use one on the amp volume and one on freq filter
For Reese I use it on the filt freq and the 1st lfos speed
Also a slow synth tune osc and amp vol is good
But ye a lot of times only ones necessary
wait what, i thought you meant oscillator as in sound source, are u talking about LFOs or modulation envelopes?
Ye my bad lfo’s
On the elektron boxes you get to lfos per track and you can use them to modulate everything from tuning to filt freq, amp vol. diff choices for diff boxes.
I’m trynna find new ways of modulating sounds to get good fx and crazy bass sounds
What if you’re actually Ryan and are just trying to throw everyone off your trail by pinning cyc as Ryan
I kno that last post reads like Ryan, maybe we’re all Ryan deep down inside
Who is the real Ryan is the questrian
I’m not very familiar with the Elektron range, but if you can choose square waves with Pulse Width Modulation options, you could stack a few (at least two) and have some LFOs control the PWM values independently. Makes for thicc phased leads.
Yo I’ve literally just learnt to make one of these on the syntakt and it’s a similar sound kinda. You reckon stacking them will give that wall of bass sound
It’s a classic trick ye, stack 2 squares, detune one of them slightly, then modulate the PWM of one of them (or both).
I’m figuring out to do all these tricks in elektron language
The instructions I followed are
“ SY BITS: set Waveform to e.g. 90, choose “SYN/Waveform” as one of the LFO destinations, set depth to 25, and you got a Pulse Width Modulation.”
Which got a lovely warm bassy sound
yea i just usually fuck around with modulating different stuff idk, modulating filter resonance, wavetable positions pitch, etc can make for some weird stuff.
tend to use envelopes more than lfos myself
Need to use more filter resonance modulation tbf, need to find the sweet spot
I’m working itb mostly and don’t think the elektron device have the envelope ting or wave table
I’m gonna buy ableton in next few months so I’ll get on that then
This was all done on the Synclavier apparently.
Don’t you just count the beats in 15 seconds and times it by 4?
I have no idea about that sort of thing
Just thought it was cool setting the delays to the bpm of the track by working it all out with counting and maths rather than just clicking a button or two
15ips is an abbreviation for Inches Per Second fyi, an old term used for describing the speed of reel-to-reel tape machines.
Think about it- you count the beats, 4 to a bar for a timed 15 seconds
Say you count 35 beats
Times that by 4, cos 4 x 15 is 60
And it’s beats per ‘minute’: which is 60 seconds
So your 35 x 4 is your songs bpm: 140
What para was saying sounds way more complex, and I don’t know bout that
It is pretty self-explanatory tbh + I explained it. How many inches of tape per second, like?
