I tried to do the recovery process the other time it crashed. I think if you dont get the recover ur work box pop up means that an undo file wasn’t created. I checked and all the rest had an undo file except the doomed one

Normally that would peak my anxiety but I’m getting used to it.

So I really want to get better at chopping breaks and implementing them in my tracks but don’t really know where to start. Anyone have any top-tier tutorials for this?

Also, any other sample packs besides the classic “Jungle jungle 1989 - 1999” you recommend looking into?

@sleeps @Paralytik @Harkat

I’ve got hundred on hundreds of breaks. OG drums from the songs. I can send some to you if you like.

I’m pretty neanderthal with my breaks tbf. I chop rough. It depends what your using I guess, p sure ableton has a very decent chopper utility.

Cableguys has some good vids and shorts

Then there’s Stranjah.
I can’t stand his voice tho so can’t watch his vids for long

yeah the stranjah guy I had to up the speed to 1.25 to make him talk at a normal speed

Fuck tutorials & very specific sample packs imo

Absorb dope jungle & dnb that does it best

Then just get some standard classic breaks raw rips pack that has them all. I can give u those.

That Raygun/Ras78 is so far beyond goated.
Stupidly good plate.

imo workflow is everything for breaks

look up tutorials for akai s9x0/sx00 samplers to get a feel for the classic workflow. you could just chop the audio in timeline view, but imo mapping chops to MIDI sampler is a better workflow to recreate the classic vibes.

the other part of the sound is tone - both from the old DACs used in samplers and the timestretch algo. there’s apps (but no VSTs) that emulate akai timestretch. bitcrushers (decimort 2) can emulate the DACs but aren’t as good as the real thing

Paul stretch in audacity is an effect that time stretches audio but basically makes everything sounds like ambient music hahah. U could Paul stretch a fart and it’s sound cool
