Idk what’s happened, but atm it’s like I can sit down and throw together some random idea based on the thoughts I’ve had regarding a certain workflow and it will just come together really nicely really fast. The weed I had at the studio last night also helped with taking me right into a flow state and today it’s like I can just keep vibing on the same flow.
Really need to use reaper more. So much stuff is really easy on it, like getting well chopped samples with the z/s hotkeys, with nice fading in/out. Can export multiple tracks easily as indivual sounds, too.
Also prefer the effects recording/tracking much more than i did in fl studio
Fucked around and dropped bulk of a month pay on an octatrack MK II like a little hypebeast
oh shit! thats such a fun bit of gear

Thanks, kids got cancer now.
may all of your DAWs be this sparkly
How do yall get nice prominent bass? Like, on my home sound system it’ll sound good and the sub will be booming, then I get in the car and there’s just no bass definition (obviously my car doesn’t have as good of speakers), but other songs I listen to with bass still sound good on my car system.
Is it just a frequency thing? Or is it like a mix thing?
Try to mix at really low volumes. That minimizes the effects of your room acoustics. Subs probably sound good in your room because it’s working with the dips and nodes of your room. If it sounds undefined it probably means you have too many things that have sub info going on at once and they are masking the intentional low end. Get ruthless with a highpass on elements that don’t need the low end, pay special attention to your reverbs.
I’m a dumb dumbass and haven’t done that yet on this song lol. I’ll see how much of a difference that makes.
I can think of 2 of my songs in particular that I felt like had really good, isolated low end, that just doesn’t show up besides on my sound system. I might have to take a look at those (if I still have them) and see if i can bring the bass out of the mix more
Is this good or shit
Worked on it for a million hours like 5 years ago and still can’t see it objectively
I think its pretty cool, the visuals are maybe a bit too jumpy at times for me tho. I like the longer shots
I second this, smoother softer transitions would suit the music better.
But if you changed the music to something at the same bpm as the transitions then that’d work too.
got any audio examples?
You’re not supposed to mix with your eyes, but might be worth running a spectral analyser on the track to see if your bottom end is actually clear or not.
