Yeah thats a good idea I am gonna mess around with that and see how it works.
lol that terror squad bass at 1:38 has GOT to be sampled, i think its a joke though
Yeahā¦I think so too. Now that you mention itā¦they prob have a lot of samples in that track. Thats cool thoughā¦it is kind of inevitable that sampling comes back around. I hear a lot of people around here talking about it but I havenāt heard much of it or it has been done pretty discretely with things that you wouldnāt really notice like percussion parts. We should prob all be sampling sub bassā¦its pretty easy to snag in dubstep since the kicks are so far apart.
Thats the only one that sounds sampled to me really, and the cheeky laugh right afterwards kinda gives it away. But I dunno, those two got some pretty good sounds so the rest could honestly be them.
IMO, sampling basses will be the death of this kind of music. Cause thats the fun and challenge of it, making and coming up with these sounds.I already highly dislike that pros are giving out preset/sample packs and doing tutorials on their signature sounds (looking at you BA and VR). It just kinda ruins it for everyone else. But hey, its their right.
On another note, how do get yours mids to really pop like BA or Zomboy? They have this very fat sound 3d sound, often my growls an synths sound airy and scratchy in comparison. I wonder if theyāre leaving a lot of of the very low mids on their bass soundsā¦
just fyi, the terror squad sound itself is a sample. I got it from a guy who did a pretty spot on remake and as far as i can tell anyway, basically every sound in the drop is from one of two or three sample packs. of course the samples are heavily processed and tweaked a lot so its not like he just dragged and dropped some samples on there, and it was mixed very very well, but still it was sample.
just to give you an example here is a clip of the original, unprocessed sample, and then the sample being stretched to make the terror squad sound
hope you find that interesting
I am EQing my drops to do a gentle roll off from 100-200hz. It seems to help keep the mud out but keep a little beef in the low end. In Ableton, I often put a saturator at the end of my chain and use the sinoid fold curve. I donāt usually add driveā¦I just load the default saturator and change the curve. Besides that, the rest is in the patch design. I like to setup a patch and then duplicate it. I tweak the duplicate sound to fill in sound gaps. Most of my sounds are at least 2 patches layered together. Its kind of likeā¦if the sound isnāt there, you arenāt going to be getting it with FXā¦you have to put it in there with the synth.
Wow, I knew the growl was sampled but not the wobble. News to me. Such a huge sound.
I find it so crazy that zomboy can do so much sampling yet retain such a distinct overall style and sound. So many people trying to emulate his style but something always seems to be missing.
Thinking the same thing tbh
Hello
yoo man thats dope Any details?
Its a basic sytrus patch with a lot of processing. There are 2 filters, a bandpass and a bandreject filter. The most important things are 2 vocodex, with make the vowel stronger. But with 2 vocodex stuff will sound weak so there is a lot of EQ, Distortion and Compression needed to make it sound good again.
Afterwards I added a short reverb and then put the stereo seperation up to make it wider.
Sadly I cant post an image of the patcher patch because im a new user
sick man thats dope hahah I have never tried using 2 vocodexs thats a good idea
Bit proud of these sounds, everything was made in Serum
I like this a lot dude!

dang man I have no idea, that song is pretty dope though
The bass kinda has a metallic tone, which can be created by a very, very short delay.
But im only 50% sure about it
Thats the only thing I can say about it.
