Here is a thing I do every once and a while to help my basses out.
First I took serum and got a spectral monster wave table then I just made a basic growl out of it and put basic effects on it like Vocodex, EQs, Compression, phaser, ping pong, reverb and I got this.
Then I took that bass, re pitched it, added some saturation, then added some hard core EQing to bring out the vowels.
Also if you haven’t seen it Labco has a dope tutorial on resampling Neuro/Glitch Hop basses and gave me some good ideas when resampling my basses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOVGKmHiGyY
Desembra was on the good dsf. It’s not that unrealistic to think he could have a account here. What would be unrealistic is if he told us fm8 tips or processing tips. ;(
I’m totally fine with that tho, he’s gotten to skrillex level and earned it. No need to spill the beans for scrubs like us.
Does anyone have any good tips on making good sounding serum wavetables. Ive made a few using FM8 and im experimenting a lot to get some decent results, and some horrifyingly bad results, but thats part of the process. Just wondering if anyone has done anything creative and they’d like to share?
DAMN you’re right lol. I used massive as a ‘sub’ growl to get deep and beefy sounds. chopped that cause i can’t make good moving growls in massive Layered with a fm8 growl and resampled, pitched, ran through various effects, mostly phase used so slow you can barely hear it and some melodyne to get more movement into it. the beginning of mine actually isn’t even a growl. just some random edgy sound i chopped together.
The growls being the hardest for me are those trashy ones. Like prodigy quality. I’d pay friggin money to know hot to make those properly.
Best i came up with is this:
damn thats clever, i can kind of hear what your talking about at the beginning. If your using Ableton, could i hassle you for a live set to look at it?
What fx do you have cause i was using trash 2 for pretty much all my growls and some melodyne and other 3rd party fx’s you won’t be able to open it up then right?
