Honestly consistent practice is the best advice you can give to anyone, so very true. I was just interested if anyone had made similar sounds because learning what works from other people who have already succeeded is the best way to learn imo.

As said. Look it up. There are awesome posts on the internet that could help you out make your growls more vocaly such as frequency ranges of certain ‘words’ you know wow yay and all that stuff that you can apply to your eqing.

If you work with ableton ( i use 8 dunno if it works on 9 aswell ) i could send you an effects rack that helps me a lot with my growls.

Yea no doubt man, ive been reading up a bunch on formant synthesis. Again its just daily practice thats help a lot.

and yes dude! that would be much appreciated man, i use live 9 so im not 100% sure it would work but itd be worth a shot

I work in ableton, and countless times I’ve tried using the EQ8 to create vowels or movement in a growl but it always turns out shit. I’ve tried looking up tutorials but as soon as I hear the sound they’re about to show me how to make I just close the video lol.

^^ i know that feeling. Somebody actually showed me that. You will need some basic movement though as the rack only further improves that. But it helps a lot though. Just PM me your email and see if you like it :smile:

Yo got a question on that Growl (because I seem to be stuck with that) so how exactly did you get the sound so big and wide ? is it phaser ? or Chorus…my Growls are always sounding so “weak” like yours, Desembras and Skrillexs (yes his and Desembras Growls are still my goal :D) are so full and wide and I wonder how you guys pull that off? help would be highly appreciated ^^

I wonder what kinda delay he used too. I like ping pong delay with like 2-14 millisecond delay and mess around with the dry/wet nob.

so about that Audioweapon/Barley Alive basses (still trying to make them for like 5 weeks now :c) does anyone have any pointers ? I mean for these like “Whomp” basses like this one: https://clyp.it/u2mngt4f

I personaly think its just a saw/square wave with Flanger and Phaser but I might be totaly wrong…does anyone got something similar and would like to help me out ? would realy appreciate it :slight_smile:

I have been working on the Barely Alive wub and Audioweapon thing lately and I used Serum to make this https://clyp.it/yd53dswy

I don’t think it sounds good at all but I will keep you guys updated if I get anywhere.

Here are my steps:

Open Serum
Get a Saw/Square wavetable
FM it by a Sine with its pitch up an octave
Modulate the WT of the Saw/Square Wavetable
Add Hyper/Dimension Add Distortion with a Bandpass Add Flanger Add EQ add Multiband Compression
Add Rever Add Delay
Then I compressed Again
Vocodex
Compress
Distort
And press some buttons

Hahah hopefully that will give you a basic idea but I am going to keep messing around and see if I can actually get something that I can use in a track :slight_smile:

PSP Phaser could be the “PSP Nitro” effect plugin, and the “Super Secret” effect is OTT Multiband Compression

I don’t want to seem like a dick, but his ‘tips’ on growls, should be taken with a grain of salt. Very basic and not very good, however this was 6 months ago.

ok sick thanks man, I just looked it up and I think I am going to try and watch some videos on it.

I think he might use the phaser and just pitch it down and the color from the growl would make that sound.

But anyways I think it would be a cool thing to try out :smiley:
