Wow, this is really cool. How many poles/stages have you set your phaser to? I see people recommend phasers all the time but I’ve never seen them mention and specifics aside from “automate frequency”.

I made a tut on my serum growl if anyone is interested. If you skip towards the end (22 min) it starts to get into Omegamode’s clicky stuff! I took a lot of concepts from this thread and tried to build it into Serum to make use of its awesome LFO power.
I learned so much from this forum and want to give back so if you guys want the patch I will send it out to DSF members.

I usually like to use Massive or Serum, but I decided to make a video about another FM/ Macro set-up I like to use once in a while.
But I usually use a filter of some sort to re-enforce formants as well as vocodex to make the sound thicker.
Automating vocodex’s parameters can yield some interesting results as well.
What I do like about Sytrus is that you can make some gnarly textures pretty easily!
I also credited SeamlessR a lot in that video because his channel is where I learned about Sytrus.

I like what you were aiming for, but what i’m hearing with this and a lot of other people on this thread is the complexity and over processing people try to put into this. The reverb is really noticeable and needs to be more subtle. Unless it’s a build up growl hit which can have a fatter more noticeable reverb like a monster growling in the distance. (If that makes sense) But if you want a growl for a drop or just a one-shot type deal, you want that reverb to be er, tighter and less noticeable. You want to be able to hear the difference with and without the effect without being able to full grasp it and rip the difference in the sound. Trying to explain as much as I can. The main reason growls sound so cool a lot of the time is the vowel they’re given. If you really spend the time to make it as vowelly as you can just the way you want it, whether it be an “o” “a” “e” whatever it is, finding the perfect vowel and modulating it perfectly it should come out great. Just don’t overdo distortion and EQ and compression. I’ve always found when making sounds that the best ones I get are made with less rather than more. Some people may see all i’m saying another way, but hopefully this helps somewhat. You’re getting there though for sure! Keep it up man! (: Best of luck!

first i send the growl made it on serum (u can make it on Massive too,is really simple) into a distortion channel on the mixer,so i add a lot of harmonics and make it more interesting

what i do next is the filtering and this is mostly everything
so phaser,and 2 eq which have a highpass filter ,a lot of peaks and some bandreject
