Totally agree. To add on that there is 2 ways of approaching this. In my view the best way is to put as much of your chain in the vst of your choice to make the chain more efficient and easier to adjust. So here you go here is my preset for this growl https://clyp.it/qg4moo3l
I like that one Piotr. I dig that cabinet / room sound.
Cheers, I try to mimic real instruments in my growls to make them more organic. That chain didnt have many effects in it to color it really. So even though I had a phaser stack, some magic shit and ott most of the mixing on those was turned down. Oh and Convolver is the best reverb ever. Itās so good at adding that roomy vibe
Tried my hand at making a Barely Alive - Elephant screech (not a growl but still something cool). Nowhere near exact, but the technique is useful to know. In the clip I preview the sound before and after the FX chain (just a couple EQs, sausage fattener, etc.). https://clyp.it/kxjoe5tw
Basically just your average Joe square whomp. Just add a comb filter with modulation on the pitch and feedback (with the damping all the way up) and you have your sound.
Sounds really cool, I might post some of my screechers later on
yeah I agree. I like to use the one in trash 2 but jn general, I think these convolver sounds are pretty interesting.
Kinda one of my fav screechers I made but have it guys

Kind of reminds of something knife party made, gj
Cheers man, I have few more interesting things like this that are sort of growl screecher hybrids. Kinda makes me think of how skrillex originally came up with that lead on breaking a sweat

Made these in FM8. Used the saturation and filter in FM8, then ran I think into two phasers (self-vocoding can work as well), eq, mb compression, mb distortion (in Ohmicide), reverb (ValhallaRoom).
The three drops are different variations of the patch.
Was messing around with massive and made a pretty cool sounding bass. https://clyp.it/dvgwuaft
Here is the massive patch
The FX chain does most of the sound though. Itās basically a lot of distortion VSTs on top of each other with a couple million Vowel EQs (modulated obviously) and some vocodex.
As you can hear, itās more of a pitch-down growl than a single note growl (which is why it sounds like farts when played as a single note). Also, if you want an in-depth explanation on the FX chain, just say so. Iām lazy so I wonāt type that many words if I donāt have too xD.
Sounds pretty good, although I think If you tried doing some of your effects chain in massive youd come out with a bigger tone. Also fm in massive is really powerful, dont underestimate it.
Man⦠i am not good at making remakes to sound exactly like the original⦠been working on Arkasia - Inside the Kraken remake among couple of others and this is the outcome so far:
It is not like⦠just⦠no⦠i give up already on that project⦠I really should focus on orchestral stuff rather than focusing too much on growl designs.
But anyone have any opinions still? On the growls and build and mixing, mastering and such
there is much more ambient and background noise
But hey about that, i truly wonder about that background noise as in it shows itself on several other pro tracks and such as well⦠do they add some sort white noise there or are there some other hidden noises or are the main sounds fattened/distorted up so much that they do it?
I have now wirelessly contracted autism.
Hey guys, i really dig that amazing Serum lead sounds ,who knows how it was made ?
