Tuna - The Legend Continues

@Pokus
WOOIIIIII - big 2007 vibes on Dub Thing. Old school dubstep flavours. The interplay between your midbass and the sub are so playful. Melodies are just on point. Reverbs, delays all over the shop. Solid tune. You ever hear of a guy called 2oh1, used to be an OG DSF member? This tune reminds me of his stuff. Love it.

Knallpanpang. Now THIS is the shit I do like.
Been making some stuff like this myself. Let’s take it to DM and put something together?
Is there a real subtle panning on the hats? Nice touch. Really feeling this - I thought it could so with a bit more acid in the latter second half of the tune.

Dundersmell Dark. As. Fuck.
Serious head nodder. Thick fog and green lasers. Reminds me of something you’d hear on an old Technodrome tape pack from the one DJ not playing gabba. Fergus or some dude like that.
DOes anyone even know what I’m on about or am I showing my age?
Anyway acid vibes on this are sick sick sick. Can’t fault this one, loved it from beginning to end.

@cyclopian
Well you know I pretty much dig all your output. Interesting hats doing that weird slow to fast choppy thing. Serial killer melodies. Love those pads(?) underneath everything, like machine noise/ambience.
When that snare drops and just pulls everything together tight :heart_eyes:
Vocals give me feels, would have been nice to drop the timestretching for a bit and smother them in reverb. That sub is a monster - where that hitting? I’m feeling it more than hearing it…
Please drop me a copy if you’re feeling generous?

@epnu
Muder You’s snare is brutal. So clinical and cutting but with some dirt on it that gives me chills. That plucked melody is dope af. Needs a bit of tape noise or something under it all, and second @Pokus comment about things being maybe a touch too dry. Sling some reverb in there - get wet! Crowd killer for sure. But it is far too short! :frowning:

Acquiescence V1 Has this one been a tuna before? Thought I recognised it… Big phat sub workout counterpoints the delicate melodies so well. Love the percussion, so fragile and tight but with lots of movement and life.

@butter_man Wu Nu bounces hard. Claps give it that footwork flavour. Sub needs to come up a bit in the intro, it’s not hitting hard enough. Drop is very unexpected - almost sounds like a different tune. Brings those claps back straightaway to keep it together.
And I would knock the snare back a couple db, it’s a bit too loud in the mix. But keep it dry af like that, it sounds really good.

Frag is a WIP so won’t say too much. Percussion pattern is skippy, I like it. Nice acid vibes on the bass.

Yes! I feel that I’m in kind of a rut with regards to structure and evolving melodies atm.

I mean I’ve only been producing since July last year so I’m no expert but I’m sure we could put a couple dark techno tunes together. I come form a metal background myself too (I’m sure it was you in another thread saying about techno/blackmetal?)

@MARSEN - refracted is killer!! Proper darkside murkage d&b vibes on this. Percussion sounds ace, excellent sample choice. I’m seriously loving this track. Those 80s synths (arpeggios?) in the intro are :heart_eyes:

@butter_man - you gotta tell me how you got that kick in french kevin costner, it’s heavy af. That trippy acid synth section at 1.04 gets double thumbs - :onethumb::onethumb: my only crit is that there didn’t seem to be a lot going on under 120… it’s lacking in bottom end. I would drop this about 6am to finish off any one still on the dancefloor.
val kilmer is just wonderful! Wonky, woozy, relentless, spooky, and grimy. Illegal warehouse techno party vibes.

@lemonhaze - KICKDRUM!!! :salute:
Chopped, twitchy, glitch tunes get my vote everytime! The dry percussion and drums really work here. I just wanted it to be longer and then break the fuck out into a full on glitchcore 808 bikini party banger for the pool party twerkers

@syrup stellar synth choice my man. Love the polish folk band vibes. I felt like the stepping section at 2.35 just needed a lil something else percussion-wise. Heavy heavy sub, really making my head throb.

I was hoping for a @cyclopian tuna but got nothing yet… also @knobgoblin is conspicuously absent.

Seriously you guys bring it every time. If I ever win the lottery I’m pressing and releasing all your tunes.

@sleeps really liked Tweedledee, production was really nice, all the little fills and elements seemed very fitting to the kind of '06/07 DMZ style it has. Love the swing. Liked how as it went on you kept it changing up too.
Warehouse is nice, like the sound choices. Found it a bit hard to find the rhythm which isn’t a bad thing actually, but I had the thought maybe you could try some sort of percussive element (hat?) with a really simple pattern to kind of tie it all together here or there, not even through the whole track. Definitely a creative call though. The vibe and rhythm is tight kind of reminds me of old Strict Face or smth

@butter_man French Kevin Costner is wild. Didn’t anticipate where it was going. That kick is sexual. Some elements in the mix seem maybe a little sharp on the ears in the higher midrange area? maybe just the headphones I’m using. Anyway strong track.
Same with Val Kilmer, dope stuff. I love how wonky and weird it was. Great vibe, no other major observations. it fucks

@lemonhaze mmmmmm. That glitchiness is great. Feel like it would be sweet fleshed out into a longer track. Maybe partway through bringing in some kind of vocal/acapella but chopped up and processed would be cool, just a thought anyway

@syrup big bass on this, heavy. Like the kind of unusual instrument choice. Feel like the snare could have a bit more body when the bass comes in, maybe something else layered in. I would lean towards adding some faster shakers/hats in some sections too but up 2 you. Anyway it sounds fat as fuck

Funny you should mention that I did try a simple ride hit on every 1 to give it some stability but it sounded too rigid then, even with that little element. I took it out cuz I wanted it to sound aggy and awkward.
Checked out some early Strict Face tracks - digging them a lot.
