like we try to produce a track each week and give feedback
wicked i might get on this too, any particular guidelines for the tracks or whatever we feel like? should I just post the track up here?
no theme, no guideline, just make at least one tuna and pm it to me before sunday
then i post it all in here and we all feedback each others tunas
the real challenge is to do it week in week out

not that we cant do both, but the ninja dubs thread is turning into a spot where people actually give feedback now
just thought id mention that to people that might not look at that thread here
I was planning on starting a new track tonight, and with the 1 week deadline that this thread implies I imagine I’ll actually finish it as well. The ninja dubs thread seems like a nice place for “spotty”(?) feedback, but in this thread I’m more convinced that more or less the same people will keep coming back week after week (well, that’s the idea isn’t it?) with both new tunes and constructive feedback.

also i quite liked the intimacy we had on the old forum, what with tuna thread being hidden in some subsubforum no one ever checked, but i guess this point is moot in here
anyhoo, here’s some feedback
@cyclopian really liking the way this one builds up. the violin-ish tribal samples works really well in that techno context. can’t pinpoint anything obviously wrong with the mixdown (at least on my headphones).
@BudSpencertron feeling the idm meets grime vibes on this… progression is on point too, can’t fault the mixdown either, only thing is this could be way longer, left me craving for more
sorry for the not that helpful feedback, you guys are just too talented for tuna i reckon, send your stuff to labels or something

Agreed with faultman ^
also, the tuna stuff always seemed a little more ‘experimental’ whilst dubs club was typically fairly standard dubstep, grime etc

@cyclopian yo this is sick, that string sample is killer in the tune, proper hypnotic techno vibes. only thing i can fault is that one clicky sound that starts at 2.08 is a bit loud/ harsh? but im listening with headphones so could just be that. nice track man!
@BudSpencertron this ones vibes, its grimey but quite different still. like the sound choices and that, the synths are sick. mixdowns good too, only thing is I think the robotic voice sample kinda gets drowned out a bit?
@faultier this ones smooth man, that vocal sample that comes in right near the end is Killer!

bassdrum sounds nice
space is nice too
maybe you could turn down this click on top of the bassdrum tiny bit down and raise the rest just a tad more the background noises

i think if anything i miss some element that gives it a song feel but yeah its not that type of tune hm

@cyclopian: Drum and sample work is on point. Those hand drums are fantastic. Really digging the feel and atmosphere of this one. It’s a bit Gauzy, in a really good way, and still unique
@Budspence: I really like the alternate kick in the beat of this. I feel like the “hype hype” vox sample would have more impact if their weren’t as many samples before that. Listening back, I think its just the speak and spell sample that is getting in the way. Im not a huge fan of those quarter note string/wind synth melodies, but thats a stylistic thing, that I feel like I’ve heard too often. Bass sounds are all great
@Faultier: So short! just when I was getting deep into the groove the fade out starts… On a technical point, I think the highest note of that initial starting sample is super harsh and is antithetical to the smooth vibe present throughout the rest of the mix, try notching that out maybe if you are going to continue to work on this one.
@Sarbjeet: your track seems to have disappeared? or did it go private?
Anyway, i just started one for next week so hopefully I can contribute again. Just wrapping up a number of projects that have been keeping me from working on my own music for a while…

@BudSpencertron you took yours down it seems, but I got a chance to listen to it before. I was diggin it, but felt that you needed a little more separation in the sounds. Got a little bit muddy at points for me. Dug the ideas a lot tho.
@faultier great sampling, the intro sound is a bit loud/harsh on my headphones. Maybe that guitar lick could be a little tiny bit louder/fuller (not sure but it sounds pretty thinned out, maybe a little too much EQ work?) The midrangey thing (horn?) is super sick, what a great sound!
@Sarbjeet_Jagdev the mix feels very flat and small/possibly over compressed? (not sure, im not very technical). Stylistically its pretty cool though, can def see where your mind was going on this one. The execution kinda hangs up the ideas though.

i dig the vocal sample at the start. hm the sub bass is nice i think you just need to raise the rest a bit more and give the sounds bit more life maybe some roomy reverbs and distortions. some sends occasionally maybe too long dubby delays could help or big impact sounds. not sure about the melodies maybe shuffle them a bit?
the beat is nice i like the shakers would bring them earlier and maybe mroe but different patterns maybe
