UNBURIED: The Lost Tracks of Burial - Production Competition

nice turnout and quality submissions, was very hard to decide, ultimately it was between the first two tracks for me, down londis wins by a smidge

nice stuff, loads of those had some really evocative elements, was hard to choose between the one with the awesome delayed vox/bass harmonies, and the one with the proper Ashtray Wasp-style skittish edits and broken collage vibe, but went for the latter cos it was really nicely done.

I finished mine at like 11pm last night and forgot to master so it;s quiet as fuck lol

In general, very nice entries. Sound design is on point, but I feel the BPM is slightly too high in almost all of them, for it to really capture that lurking Burial feel. Apart from that, pretty amazing stuff everyone.

Shhhhhh
There’s a week of voting yet!

Voted! Lots of interesting entries, but my pick was the clear winner for me.

Very close between a couple of them but got a vote in. Want to give a shout out to Shortbus for making me feel very uneasy lol. Love the pad that comes in about a minute into Down Londis. The clanky percussion in the background of Guard My Heart really brings it together too.
Good competition, well done all.

Shortbus captures that “k-holing at the rave” feeling by the end lmao.

Impressed with these play numbers!

Had to vote for In Mariah Carey it captured the spirit of Burial the closest imo. The synths and vocals are on point! Guard My Heart almost pipped it coz the beat is stronger in that one but sadly I can only pick one.

I htink the next comp will have a two votes each deal.

Big ups on the entries, was hard to choose my fav but went with the mariah one cos it gave me the most burial feels

he has plenty of tunes at ~140

really sick turnout for this one, makes me wish i spent more time on mine. for me it was between

guard my heart - has burial vibe but also its own cool thing going on
down londis - best snare, the little fx fills are so well done
stairswell 2nd half best nu-burial impression
come inside - burial vibe, great fills, cheeky line to sample

@sleeps the placement of track 4 and 5 was intentional right lol?

Last chance to vote!

And the winner is…
@Phigure - In Mariah Carey
Well done m808 very sick track that really captured the Burial vibe
The first comp of the new year will be yours to curate.

Second place is…
@lloydnoise - Down Londis
I feel like this one and the winner were so close in spirit, it was almost impossible to choose between. But there can be only one alphachad in this game, so you get to be betacuck.

Runners up
@mks - South Brooklyn Boroughs
@sleeps - Come Inside

Honourable mentions
@Stance_ReThinK - Guard My Heart
@_ronzlo - Shortbus
@finji - Stairswell
@Ryan - Tell 'Em
@Tolsof - Big Poopies

Big up to all involved.
The next comp is the last one until February and it is going live ASAP. So check it out and get involved! LINK

Big up everyone.

I personally feel there should be tune challenges and not tune competitions.

I also think we should bring back two votes like there used to be.

Also, some of you guys write some short tunes.

How would a challenge differ from a competition?

Also +1 on the 2-vote system. I’m going to make it a permanent fixture from now on.

We can all be number one or number zero.

It sounds rather socialist. I don’t know how it would work.

But yeah, bring back the two vote system.
