Silkie vs MIZZ BEATZ purple love
Truth amnesia
All from discogs
My copy of Tears has got Butcha on the other side. Was the original white just one sided then?
Nice, was it reasonable? I’m after that as well.
I allways thought it was a single sided
Butcha’s on B, yeah.
Again, he may do with his label as he pleases, I certainly won’t buy any of the single-sided 12"s unless one tune is good enough to warrant 7£… Which hasn’t been the case so far for me.
We’re not talking about throwing any old tune on there. If you’re putting out a tune a month, you obviously have enough material. So spreading these tunes across single sided releases, but still selling them for regular prices, is what makes it look like a move to make some extra $$$. Again, he can do what he wants for all i care. I just don’t get why people love to suck up all the praise but get so defensive when you call them out on their antics. Seems like while putting out records many have lost the perspective of vinyl buyers. Truth is collecting records is fucking expensive right now and only getting worse. Unless you have a real job you have to be extremely selective. Overpriced single sided 12"es surely make the decision what to buy easier. I’ve given so many thousands of euros to artists and labels i really don’t feel bad about voicing my opinion on shaky vinyl antics. Like selling ‘limited editions’ in a plain green sleeves for an extra quid. I could go on and on…
Amen brother
I brought the proper version with test on the flip for a tenner but the seller sent me the single sided version so he refunded me a fiver
Ah too bad man, I bought the double sided version a couple of weeks ago for 12€. Test is banging!
Also made a nice deal with my mate for Skream’s Shinein and Dark Tantrums’ Unborn. Got to have more Medi plates!

Macabre Unit - 2003-2015 E
No one has to buy these records man. He’s said that the single sided format is integral to the identity of that particular label. What that identity is or why the concept is important to him isn’t clear but I’m sure he’d tell you if you asked. It might not be best financially for consumers but does everything have to be? I know it probably does go on in some corners of the industry, but I think it’s a bit hasty to suggest making extra P influenced the decision to do things this way in this case, and I’m usually as cynical as the next guy believe!
He may have enough material but if he doesn’t wish to put it out like that then why should he? If he has 10 tunes should he just press it all to one vinyl 5 a side just to be cost effective? Its very clear the type of label it is, its a single-sided one… hes not tricking anybody. It is what it is and you can either buy it or don’t.
I completely agree if you spend money regularly on vinyl you are more than entitled to your opinion… I just don’t agree that single-sided is ‘shaky vinyl antics’. Maybe I’m just being optimistic but I’d like to think its a choice on how a producer/label want to present their work and has nothing to do with money. I don’t think any independent label are getting rich off charging normal vinyl prices for single sided… in fact they probably don’t cost that much more to press.
Jrkhnds has the right attitude, if the music is worthy of £7 buy it, if not leave it. It shouldn’t be value for money based on quantity, it should be based on quality. I’m sure people can think of single sided records that they’d pay more for over a shit EP… because you buy based on the quality of music, not how much you get for your money.
I’m way more confused about the most recent label by J… Ease & Sekkle. 4 grime tunes on a 10"… great value for money but grime isn’t really something thats commonly pressed to 10"… let alone 2 a side. Pressing single-sided makes way more sense to me than that does tbh.
if he does have 5 two sided twelves i honestly do think that would be better
if anything it would save mr robinson a few trips to the post office and some $ on stamps
Customer pays the stamps m8.
oops
We’re going in circles guys.

“You dont have to buy the records” is not an argument. Me choosing not to buy a release doesn’t disqualify me from stating my opinion.

I never said he wanted to rip off his customers. I’m just saying you shouldn’t be surprised if ppl might bring that up.

Running a label a certain way is great and every label owner is entitled to do things how they want to. However a lot of those decisions are pretty inconvenient for your customers. Sometimes i feel like labels either don’t care or aren’t aware of that. Sometimes they act like they’re thinking they’re the only label you’re buying records from. Like when system is selling exclusively from their site (i know represses are available somewhere else now). I mean, that’s probably great for them because they get a bigger share. But for me, l have to pay about 16 euros for a single plate, that would cost me 9 at my usual online shop. If you have a limited vinyl budget of let’s say 100 per month, that’s a difference of 5 records you can get. If every label did it that way, that would suck major ass. I guess if you’re selling out within hours, you probably don’t have to care about who gets one and who doesn’t. But i just wish labels would actually show a little more understanding towards their support base instead of rejecting every kind of critique and making weird facebook posts.
i’m guessing that System will at some point (hopefully ASAP) put their first releases out on redeye etc. i can’t see any reason why they’re willing to put the represses on redeye etc but not the original release… has to be a money thing. and fair enough if it is, man’s gotta eat at the end of the day.
