And I quote
“can you keep your bags out of the isle, this is where than band comes through, and , well marshal is pretty old and well, if he fell”
and he trailed off
The piano player is also getting one, he must be in his 80s but christ they have some energy/stamina
I saw them at Islington not too long ago - it’s a mind-blowing experience. I need to smoke what Marshall Allen did, really can’t understand how he is still going
I have used the unknown artist title for the releases (its not me lol) to cause a bit of excitement but not to hype shit at all.
I am purely about pushing what I love and music is a art to me not a business strategy.
Made me laugh.
I dont actually care that much though, I just am mostly baffled at wasting a side of a record more than anything.
Fair enough if it costs an extra £500+ to do it but yeah just cant wrap my head around it
Also, if it is a byproduct of us talking about it, its even more bizarre to go to FB than just chime in here and discuss it haha
It’s his label, he may do as he pleases haha. But for me it’s a bit like Johnlenham put it - only from consumers perspective… Why would you pay the price of a full 12" for a single-sided white label - unless it’s some sick dub like Dry Cry or really game-changing music (and even then I think it’s dumb by the label to let the second side just be empty)? And white label antics nowadays are always adapted to hype people, lol. It’s lost all its charm a long time ago though.
As I said, for all I care man may release scratched and bent records.
Oh yeah that too, it costs fucking £8 for one song. I think ive done that for Dry cry, should have got Hijack-tears and someone else bought me Eyes VIP.
Everything else has been naah m8
Don’t really trust HHV’s packaging, just to warn you. I bought one record from that site and it came in a huge box, causing the record to bounce around the box and rip some parts of the outer sleeve.
yeah kinda did feel like another social media post addressing points made on here instead of actually posting back
altho seems like a legit dude and had his reasons for how he releases shit (tho still single sided sucks like i got gangsta 4 life and i don’t give a dub and they bang but they’re white label boots so that’s normal)
I’ve never seen single-sided as being a waste of a side… thats just the way the producer/label wanna present their music. Just like I wouldn’t be annoyed at a white label instead of full artwork release. I like vinyl cause it allows the music to be presented in more than just an mp3 download. If that means its a single-sided white label or a full artwork proper release its all the same to me, they’ve chosen to present their music in whatever way they want.
I get the annoyance when its just any old tune thrown on when it could really have done with a b-side… but it doesn’t really bother me. Things like Floating Points - Wires is a great example of a single-sided release being done well, throwing any old track on as a b-side would have ruined the release.
Extra music doesn’t always mean a better release just like more songs doesn’t mean a better album. Albums are often ruined because they’ve got too many songs/too much ‘filler’. I see records the same way, its a body of work… just thoughtlessly throwing extra music on for the sake of it isn’t always better… its just better value for money… but since when do vinyl buyers really care that much about value for money? If we did, we’d be onto digital by now.
