It’s the way he delivers vowels. This is actually the least offensive of the handful of tunes of his that I’ve heard, but so, so cringe. I wish he would just sing in french, lol. (I assume it would be less offensive to my ears). Nice riffs though.

mentioned a while ago on how I dislike hyperpop in general. Found out recently that “digicore” is the soundcloud-indebted scene that’s basically adjacent with HP / practically one and the same. I guess that’s why there’s such a big dissonance of understanding of what “hyperpop” really is when I chat with other friends about it
Point still stands that IMO pretty much all hyperpop is incredibly bad and I hate it and yet at the same time I’m so enamored by the spirit and energy by these mostly 18 and younger producers / vocalists. Tropes is pretty dope

thanks. as stupid as it sounds, that’s actually very reassuring to me.
I know it’s ass but I can’t help but keep listening to it. I’ve said it more than a year ago about soundcloud hyperpop / digicore-whatever the fuck the name is now. A lot of the music made under these scenes are largely kids, 18 and younger. Regardless of the quality / how incredibly annoying it sounds, there’s such a genuine energy and community (although an almost entirely URL-indebted community)

this article explains a lot about “digicore”. Such a bait fkn name. If it were 2020 it would still be called glitchcore (which no one even uses anymore, wtf?) There’s a real DGAF vibe / imperfections to it that make it sound fun. It definitely sounds like these kids are having lots of fun making it innit. I’ve been thinking, it doesn’t matter if something sounds “bad” as long as it’s super catchy / attention-worthy. Hell, it’s all subjective any fucking way.

Still agree that it’s kinda awful tho

I’m sure people thought happy hardcore and jungle sounded fucking awful when I was listening to it in the 90s. I’m sure people think black metal sounds fucking awful, but I love that too.
