Overrated Dubstep Tunes

Is there a foelist or block function on this new forum?

Yeah, AWD. Dunno why it gets gassed about more than Haunted which is like the definitive dubstep tune for me.

Opinions, assholes etc. But if you don’t like the jblake remix of changes you literally have no soul.

the jimmy blake version has about a minute where it touches divinity then 4 mins either side with rolling toms that fucking suck

Yes.

Yes? I mean, if it wasn’t for an artificial reason, then it would just be “rated” or “appropriately rated,” not overrated.

@Scott_Ttocs there is but its not what you’re looking for. It just blocks notifications but not posts or anything like that

‘Yes’ because I think you hit on why this discussion is a non-starter. By saying something is overrated are we not basically saying that our opinion overrides other people’s? I can’t see how that is supposed to hold up with something as subjective as music. It’s an overreach.

not really, i don’t think so (i just didn’t get what you meant by yes btw). but anyway, i don’t really see it in the light of “my opinion overrides yours” or “your opinion overrides mine.” you’re right that this topic is subjective, but i just see it as, we’re people sharing our opinions, possibly agreeing, possibly disagreeing, and talking about our different perspectives like what @Johoosh was saying above. i don’t think there’s anything wrong with that and i don’t think it has to be a “my opinion overrides yours” kinda thing.

if you can’t have a conversation because the topic is subjective then you’re ruling out a whole lot of potential topics of conversation, not just on here but in life in general.

yeah I was just kind of curious where everyone stood on the spectrum of what dubstep tunes and sounds were liked or disliked.

I wasn’t freaking out, I just think you have a piss-poor ear.

Anyway for another tune i was hearing out a lot a few years ago i’d say Ruffhouse original got a lot of over-hype. All these remixes/VIPs & even similar tunes like Roteks/Magneto overshadow it imo

But then saying that, a lot of Kenzo’s tunes do really rely on that big system to get the feel of the sub pulses, similar with VIVEK’s old ones.

This is so true; you can’t play Kismet on “normal” systems, it doesn’t translate very well.

yeah I agree, although I rate Ruffhouse.

I still play The Roteks/Protected on the regs, but they lose a bit when not on a big system.

I really like How Ya Feel.

also “Spongebob” kinda pioneered the tear-out “sub genre” imo

still love it i dont even care

got this when i tried to <3 your post lol

Never got that when I liked your post

I got that on another post last night. Was ok 5 seconds later.

sorry dude. but it’s made for big and heavy systems anyway.

but you can use a pioneer mixer and distort the fuck out of it - then maybe you can hear the distortion of the subbass? :stuck_out_tongue:

nah. seriously. this can’t be a reason to dislike or critisize a tune.

huh? he’s obviously talking about the impact of certain tunes on a big system…

you should know phrex haha, theres nothing like a tune rinsing through a proper system

there are plenty of tunes I hear on a daily basis through internet radio on my headphones that kinda me my roll my eyes. Those same tunes on a big rig and in the right context will have me shocking out in the dance and calling for the reload

Nobody was using this argument as a reason to dislike certain tunes. On the contrary: @Johoosh and myself merely stated that some plates need fat systems to do them justice and people shouldn’t be judged based on fucking laptopspeakers or whatever…
