Hey man, could you talk more about how you use distortion? I tend to only saturate my growls because the results I get with Ohmicide are normally really messy.

When I make a bass I just think layer by layer and each step I think in my head what the best type of distortion I should use for that layer. Its always fun to mess with something and use it not how its supposed to work, or use them differently. You can do everything in a different order for each bass you make but for some reason I decided to filter next and a phaser. I love using the phaser. Sometimes you can get some weird distortion from just putting a phaser with the default preset from ableton and then exporting to audio and then pitching it down. https://clyp.it/vnl2ul1g After that I did more filtering n’ stuff https://clyp.it/hjllpjqn

Hope that helps man, at first all my basses had way too much distortion and too much phasing but I seriously work on it everyday and I think its slowly getting better. I still need a lot of work so if anyone is willing to give advice I am happy to listen.

Ok, So I decided to completely trash my rack and start over with the new knowledge and work my way up from there. I have to say the Main bass maybe a bit too harsh a thing I noticed with the Skrillex growls is that they sound a bit wet “underneath” which made me think that he may uses a really clean kind of wet bass as his main bass and gets the grittines and harshness purly trough fx
